The moment I jumped ship from there was when someone made an erection joke in response to Trump being indicted again, and the replies were all admonishing about how it's insensitive toward people who are uncomfortable with sex.
That's the magic of the fediverse. It doesn't matter which instance is your home instance, you can comment and participate in practically any community you want.
I use social media for more than just gaming, so it made sense for me to make my account on a more general-purpose instance
Honestly, this is a pretty slow time for PoE content too. We're mid-league, and we just got some cinematic PoE2 trailers without much substance to them. People who really want to discuss PoE will slowly filter their way into Lemmy over the next couple of months, and I'm sure there will be a spike in activity when the next league drops.
I would rather mods stick to their guns. Short term is may be messy, but I think it's best for the longterm health of the community to drop Reddit.
Been using longhorn for my homelab for a while now, I love it. Can't comment on how it is for production, but I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try if I were to ever setup an on-prem cluster again.
Lemmygrad is full of unhinged tankies. I just automatically assume anyone posting there is a child, either physically or mentally.
Beehaw have their own rules, and that's fine. While not my cup of tea, I won't tell them how to run their instance. I respect those rules when I post to their communities. I particularly enjoy their technology and gaming communities.
Other instances are pretty alright. The vibe on lemmy.world is pretty great, which is why it's my home instance.
Edit: inb4 this comment also gets brigaded by tankies chomping at the bit to call me a "liberal"
God, that feeling when you first step out of the sewers is a core memory for me. Oblivion was my first TES game, I played that shit until my PS3 save inevitably got corrupted
If you just click on communities
on top of your instance, you can search across all instances yours is federated with.
Note that communities will only show up there if someone from your instance has already visited it the manual way first.
I signed up for beehaw initially, got in, but wasn't a fan of some of their rules and how they police speech in their community.
All good, I can still view and participate in their comments, but Lemmy.world had more of the vibe i was looking for
Honestly, Linux is Linux. Once you're comfortable enough, that's really all that differentiates distros between each other. (Minus weird shit like glibc vs musl, nixOS, etc) It's just been the closest experience I've had to "it just works" when it comes to Linux desktop.
I should also shout out that Fedora tends to embrace existing standards rather than make their own (cough Cannonical cough Snap). I'm also a big fan of some Fedora projects, particularly Fedora Silverblue
