I once had a dream really similar to this. It was for a multi-year long crucial to the fate of humanity expedition of some kind though and I was supposed to have been training for it with my shipmates for years. Somehow I forgot this until the day of launch itself and I tried to sort of wing it but the crew and especially the captain gave me some really filthy looks and were really pissed that I was jeopardizing the mission with my amateurism and made a mockery of all the work they put in training for the past few years.

I've heard so many mentions of this Spotify wrap thing today and it's the first time I've ever heard of it. I mean, I know I'm out of touch, but why after getting away with never knowing about it for what seems to have been a long time am I suddenly inescapably confronted with it?

Yes but it was many people, and especially specifically that Lenny meme that is now being posted again with a "1". I thought maybe he has some health problems or something.

This is freaky, people were posting on Lemmy only about 2 or 3 days ago about how they wished he'd hurry up and cark it and someone posted that same picture of Lenny from the Simpsons with 0 days of life without Kissinger. Was there some sign that he was on the edge particularly or was this just a weird coincidence? I know he was old, but he seemed to be taking some kind of elixir or something that had sustained him all this time.

I think somewhere around the middle of high school the storyline started to really fall apart and now in it I'm at various times a successful and likeable actor/astronaut/musician/academic/author/just a salt of the earth everyday guy that everyone somehow has respect for and comes to for advice/race car driver/activist/underground resistance fighter. And I'm also magnanimous and generous, but somehow also dishing it out to the all the wankers I have to deal with.

I think after the exhaustion of adulthood and fuckwits and my own mediocrity the quality and vividness of my daydreams has dulled to just a kind of cartoon version of me having a much better time or telling someone who's done me wrong to fuck themselves.

I had a colleague who loved to opine on a bit of everything including "millennials". He was talking about "soft resignations" and explained them succinctly as "it's when you're annoyed that you're overlooked at work so you don't put any extra effort in don't work any extra hours and only do the minimum and then wonder why you don't get promoted".

It was hilarious but sad how he could just so utterly fail to grasp the point that to me was just staring him right in the face as he struggled to explain. He's an okay guy really, and it's just a shame that his penchant for everything to fit in to nice neat stories with conveniently stupid straw men to beat in each of them really gets in the way of him having any more than the shallowest understanding of the people and world around him.
