Yeah not the intern’s fault, the fault of the system that allowed the intern to be able to do it at all

But I’m not an asshole and I want society to improve, so I’ll shit all over tipping culture every chance I get and only tip when I actually get good service, as it should be

Then get a job that isn’t tip based. Folks take those jobs because “I usually make more in tips” but that’s literally the gamble you sign up for with that mentality. I don’t want to take that gamble, so I work a job that isn’t reliant on tips. I don’t have good days where some rich dude gives me 100 bucks for no reason, but I also don’t have bad days where I make less than I expect and don’t know how to pay my bills. Tipping culture is bullshit and it’s the owning class exploiting us all, but workers who sign up to work for tipped based jobs know what they are getting into and don’t get my sympathy any more than some dude working at Best Buy hating his life does

That’s a completely different issue though - there are loads of minimum wage jobs that aren’t tipped. The issue here is that tipped positions can be paid LESS THAN minimum wage, and while legally if their tips and hourly come out to less than minimum wage they should be given minimum wage, this often does not happen.

But then when you argue this point with servers they’ll say “but I make more with tips” and that’s the point where I say ok then if you prefer it that way cool but I’m not tipping and then they get all shocked pikachu face and start trying to argue why I have to tip because of the wage issue I WAS JUST DESCRIBING at which point I say get fucked your are part of the problem.

You’re part of the problem

Unless you have a smuggled device you aren’t getting access to gmail or any other email in prison. They have their own monitored communication systems that charge the inmate absurd amounts of money to use.

My main issue with Discovery was that it never felt like Star Trek. I always called it BBC’s Trek through the Stars because to me it felt like a BBC drama set in a vaguely Trek like universe. It was a good show, just didn’t FEEL like Trek. Strange New Worlds though? Feels just like the Trek I miss

You learn something new every day. I thought it was all covered under gender dysphoria, didn’t realize it was that wide of a spectrum. Thanks for the info!

Uh, trans folks exist and are fully human of course but there is also a mental illness issue - their brain’s gender doesn’t match their body’s gender. This can be helped with transitioning and stuff but it is at its root a mental issue. Doesn’t make them less of a person and it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get all the help and support they need to thrive. Doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t call them by their preferred stuff either. But it is a mental illness by definition. Just one that we should help with without judging, same as depression or anything else

My wife is a middle school public English teacher. She was one of the idealists who got into it to help kids. She has been so beat down by her pants on head retarded administration, shit pay, awful students and parents that she has gone from the idealist that wants to help the next generation to the miserable jaded teacher that just gets through the day as quickly as possible while looking for another career.

That’s completely fair. I bet there are plenty of dense urban last mile use cases for this thing
