Hello all,

I have been tasked by the wife with putting up her new mailbox. It weighs in at a hefty 40 kgs. It came with a base plate with 4 holes to attach it to something on the bottom. I was going to make up a quick concrete slab but is a complete newb in that regard.

Please help;

Should I put some bolts in the concrete before it cures or should I drill the concrete after it's cured and put some bolts in then?

There is some existing concrete in the spot from the post of our previous mailbox, is it ok to just cover that over with the new concrete?

Will it be enough to just make a box shape with some scrap wood for the form or should I get something else? Being a 40 kg monster, how thick should I make the slab?

Any other advice?

Thank you in advance!

Once drove past a crash where the driver somehow missed the fact that the road split in two and managed to drive head on in to the end of the guard rail. The guard rail went over the bonnet and through the windscreen on the passenger side all the way in to the cabin. I'm pretty sure he had no passengers.

Yeah I did read about updating Windows messing with grub.

I just really want to play some Steam games and use my GPU for blender rendering.

This is as far as I've gotten with Ventoy.

G'day,

I decided to put Linux Mint on my laptop without dual booting for a while first. I have come to the realisation that I still need Windows but am having a hard time getting an installation happening. I downloaded the official Windows 11 .iso and created a bootable flash drive in Mint. It works but stops when it asks for drivers. Is this a laptop thing or an Acer thing?

This reminds me of when Australian PM, Scotty from Marketing went to inspect the damage after enormous bush fires after being shamed in to cutting his holiday in Hawaii short while his country was on fire.
