we can't implement common sense restrictions because the nuts have a panic attack if they're not constantly armed.

Do you honestly think that panic attacks by gun carriers is the blocker to reasonable gun laws? The number of people that carry firearms regularly is not statistically significant, let alone those with panic attacks.

I carry a concealed firearm because I think it's important for at risk groups to be able to defend themselves. I don't panic when I don't carry, but I recognize that I'm less prepared to defend myself from assault.

It's important to understand those you disagree with.

can this "fix" NFTs?

it will be interesting to see if NFTs are "properly" implemented using the web browser DRM that Google is creating

Subspace - Meet people from all over the world, and then kill them.

One of the first online multiplayer games. It has a very long skill curve, and a ton of variety in game types.

It's still alive in Steam as Continuum!

steam's proton extension (or mod, whatever) to wine has really increased the number of games that run well in wine.

these days most productivity "apps" are just web based, so wine isn't as relevant.

I keep a Windows partition around for a little better (~10%) performance in intensive games, but plan to ditch it when I upgrade my CPU.

you're right, it's a security issue!

client UIs must make it easy to keep track of who is who.

it would be nice if instances had a health status to let users know about issues proactively

"databases" is pretty broad - the literal meaning of the word is adequate and sufficient to describe what they are - just things made to store data. analogies may obscure the generality of the term...

particular types of databases all have different analogies that could help beginners, though
