For games that don't need connectivity is a no-go to me. It's just some more programmed obsolescence garbage so when the company decides you have to buy the next game they can just forbid you playing the one you have. Sorry sir but if I can still play Tetris on my Gameboy why would I let you take that away from me.

Great news to me I'm not "pro-lemmy", I am "anti-reddit".

Your account credentials are the keys to your house, you can only enter to your own house (server/instance) with your keys, but can watch through everyone's window (the owner of your house can block some specific windows tho).

So your second assessment is correct, and yeah I think if the server goes down your data in that instance may be lost. It shouldn't pass long time before some migration account feature (mastodon already has one).

Yeah man, at least the communities I love are pretty tech savvy (programming, web, open source, gaming), so it wasn't much of a hassle to do the jump.

But I just think of all those cool woodworking, cooking, music playing, history searching, drawing communities that just wanted to share something they loved, they will have it harder to accommodate to a new home and it breaks my heart.

I linked the archived announcement of the Infinity dev in the fuck u/Spez part :(. I just loved that damn app dude.

Yeah, it's not the devs fault at all, I would have payed full price for that thing (it actually had an "Infinity plus" version which is exactly the same but priced xD), but now the money wouldn't go to him, only to these reddit assholes.

Edit: grammar

You are in your house, I am in mine. But we can still watch movies together through your window.

I was about to touch some grass but thankfully Lemmy saved me.

As a sack of shit, this piece of garbage does not represent us.

That particular community has probably never been fetched by your instance of choice, after searching it wait a couple of seconds and it should appear. From that moment onwards anyone who searches it from your instance should have no problem to find it.
