See this is good. The more the fediverse grows the more people find out what us old users have known for years and years:

You don't need to rely on large tech companies. The web is for everyone.

I use Gnome on my Thinkpad. That machine has an i7 and 16gb of ram. Ok my tiny Chromebook I got Mate. Very lightweight and almost as many features as Gnome.

There's a big difference there. Before the smart phone we would use notepads. Writing things down on a little pad of paper is something we've done for 100s of years. We just swapped out the paper or booklet for a digital device.

I pay legally for:

  • YouTube Premium
  • Peacock
  • Max
  • Spotify
  • Global Comics

I also have a monthly pass at a local theater chain and see new movies almost every week.

BUT I torrent everything else. Sorry, Universal, I'm not going to pay $24 to rent Fast X.

Yeah, they're always outside the Steakhouse picketing. Running at me constantly with a fork full of green vegetables.

THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM THAT I CONSTANTLY HAVE IN REAL LIFE.

Installed on my laptop and it's solid and actually feels very snappy. I'll be getting it installed on my work PC this week.

My chill and waste time games.

  • Lego's Builders Journey
  • Sims
  • Untitled Duck Game
  • Gnome Mahjongg
  • Sonic 1
  • Mario Bros 3 (NES)

All of them. Every distro can run any desktop, so all of them.

I'm a big gnome fan. It's been my DE for years back with v2. System76 have done a lot of hard work and I welcome more competition in the desktop space but I'm sticking with gnome.

I still have my account and I don't plan on deleting but much like my Twitter account it'll just be there. I'll check it for the few people and communities that stay behind.

I am a long time Twitter user. Singed up in 2007. Mastodon felt like a superior platform and I've been quietly waiting for Lemmy to take off.
