Personally I don't watch videos on software (except for skimming tutorials) since I prefer to learn about topics with written tutorials or Reddit. Software influencers have been on the rise for the past several years, everything from grifters claiming they can help you start an SWE career, to ones that make tutorials and showcases on software.

I'm more interested in hearing about the later. I came across found this discussion: What can we learn from Neovim’s rise in popularity? : emacs, with comments claiming that Youtubers like ThePrimeagen have helped a lot with making Neovim popular. I crossposted it to r/neovim and many so far many users there said that they found Neovim through ThePrimeagen's videos.

Solved: It turns out I needed to add https:// to the redirect URL. I now edited the redirect to be this:

{
    "createdBy": "Redirector v3.5.3",
    "createdAt": "2024-12-25T00:25:04.487Z",
    "redirects": [
        {
            "description": "sh.reddit.com submission page",
            "exampleUrl": "https://old.reddit.com/r/firefox/submit?selftext=true",
            "exampleResult": "https://sh.reddit.com/r/firefox/submit?selftext=true",
            "error": null,
            "includePattern": "https://.*?reddit.com/((r|u|user)/.*?/submit.*)",
            "excludePattern": "",
            "patternDesc": "",
            "redirectUrl": "https://sh.reddit.com/$1",
            "patternType": "R",
            "processMatches": "noProcessing",
            "disabled": false,
            "grouped": false,
            "appliesTo": [
                "main_frame"
            ]
        },
    ]
}

Using the Redirector addon, I wrote a redirect from a Reddit submit page to the new new Reddit submit page but it doesn't work when I go to https://old.reddit.com/r/firefox/ and click "submit text", it just takes me to https://old.reddit.com/r/firefox/submit?selftext=true despite the link working in the example box.

Reproduction: Install the addon, save the following as a json file, click on addon icons and select "edit redirects", then click import to select the json file.

{
"createdBy": "Redirector v3.5.3",
"createdAt": "2024-12-22T15:43:42.356Z",
"redirects": [
{
"description": "sh.reddit.com submission page",
"exampleUrl": "https://old.reddit.com/r/tds_roblox/submit",
"exampleResult": "sh.reddit.com/r/tds_roblox/submit",
"error": null,
"includePattern": "[a-z]+?:\\/\\/.+?reddit.com\\/((r|u|user)\\/.+?\\/submit.*?$)",
"excludePattern": "",
"patternDesc": "",
"redirectUrl": "sh.reddit.com/$1",
"patternType": "R",
"processMatches": "noProcessing",
"disabled": false,
"grouped": false,
"appliesTo": [
"main_frame"
]
},
{
"description": "Old Reddit",
"exampleUrl": "https://www.reddit.com/r/reddit",
"exampleResult": "https://old.reddit.com/r/reddit",
"error": null,
"includePattern": "[a-z]+?:\\/\\/.*?\\.reddit\\.com\\/(((r|u|user)\\/.*)|$)",
"excludePattern": "[a-z]+?:\\/\\/.+?reddit.com\\/((r|u|user)\\/.+?\\/submit.*?$)",
"patternDesc": "",
"redirectUrl": "https://old.reddit.com/$1",
"patternType": "R",
"processMatches": "noProcessing",
"disabled": false,
"grouped": false,
"appliesTo": [
"main_frame"
]
}
]
}

I'm not micromanage it, that may be a privacy tradeoff i make for convenience. I want to see what I can do without constant maintenance.

Can you kindly tell me the difference between a leak and a breach?

That seems to only be available for Android.

Did Obama do anything relating to this?

No I did end up changing my studentaid email to an SL alias, though I might wanna change it back if it keeps having issues. The issue is that icloud bounced the email, and SimpleLogin itself gave me an email each time one got bounced, with to go to simplelogin.com and see the bounced email. This is the title for each one

An email sent to your alias redacted@simplelogin.com from [email protected] was bounced by your mailbox redacted@icloud.com

Can this app work without a server, like just log my location on-device?

[–] TheTwelveYearOld 3 points 6 months ago

I want an app that can track it automatically, and without having to open it to do so, Google maps on iOS does so. You can allow apps to always access your location to do so.

I guess there are still users for it.

Personally I moved on from it 4 years ago since I was using it for bookmarking and raindrop.io is designed for that and much better, though I've been planning on switching to something self-hosted.

I think Omnivore is a much better read it later app now.

I just installed ClearURLs and it still has the tracking parameters, can I add parameters to the addon for it to remove?
