Hard for most video game stories to be that good, though!

At least the combat wasn't tedious; for me it was just something quick to get through to enjoy the next set of story beats.

If the community stays the same, I don't see the harm. The community of 196 has always been a mix of folks from various instances, I don't think its host instance matters all that much comparatively.

I wish it didn't have to come to this, but I can't fault the mods for using the fediverse for what it was made for.

That being said, just because other laptops are cheaper doesn't make them better. I care about minimizing e-waste, so I prefer to buy durable devices that last. For that reason, I bought a Macbook 12 years ago that still works fine, while a friend of mine is on his 4th laptop in half that time.

It's an illustration of the Sam Vimes "Boots Theory". Not saying that buying overpriced Apple hardware is the way to go, but just that it's important to look at more than whatever's cheaper, since a lot of laptops that look like they have good hardware for the price are not meant to last more than a couple years.

Non political? Brøther, this is how revolutions start!

I believe they walked back on that plan, the original post received a lot of backlash and it was delisted/struck out. Supposedly there is going to be an update on that at some point but nothing yet.

Remaining hopeful that they just toss that whole idea by the wayside and let mods continue moderating their communities how they see fit, as I don't want to change instances again if I can help it.

Since it would seem that the 196 team is trying to keep their relationship amiable with the blahaj admin team, I am assuming they are looking to avoid airing their dirty laundry, as it were.

I'd probably carry on life as normal, but start peppering my conversations with things like "I'm finally looking forward to spending time with my family," and "I just nailed a huge promotion," and "I finally just had an offer accepted on a house," and "I just beat cancer, so we're finally going to get married!"

If I see my death coming and there's nothing I can do about it, I want it to seem like the most unfortunate, tragically timed event possible.

Star Trek says that we shouldn't expect World War 3 until 2026, so we've got 1 more year to live to the fullest before then.

The DMPC character who just walked off into the horizon in a perfectly straight line when his job was done is my favorite minor detail of the movie.

"Marsfucker. Now take some suggestive promo pictures of me with it in the background so it looks like my penis."

It actually doesn't look AI generated, you can see the separation of layers and it doesn't quite have that uncanny quality to it.
