While PP might not actually be the wealthiest, He has consistently for years now pulled in the largest income as well as one of the highest expense portfolios. https://canadianpolitics101.substack.com/p/pierre-poilievre-spent-129825715

that doesn't include all the "free" travel and expenses he managed to get from those so called lobbyists he hates: https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canadian-mps-free-foreign-travel-620k-1.4595379

addition to being regularly one of the top earners and expense users, he also already has his full pension and has been an MP for 19 years. During that time, we know at least that he has some investments with his wife in real estate.

the man is as phony as they come.

And it would be great and would break Microsoft's hold on the "desktop" for the average user.

These sorts of computers do already exist though. They're called NUC's. Valve could basically just take one fo those, use a custom APU from AMD again, and have their own full fledged console. Heck, the XBOX and PS5 is exactly that. A Custom AMD APU in a small box.

The point of the Deck versus anything else was that it was common x86 architecture and it runs skinned linux, thus letting us have access to virtually all our library.

Moving to ARM based silicon would massively change things in that regard. We don't want yet another platform to have to worry about ports for. The Steam Deck is a PC and that's it's goal

[–] Sprawlie 17 points 8 months ago

I don't want a Steam Deck 2. I want Steam Deck to live up to the upgradability and customizability that Valve had originally empasized for it.

It would be amazing to be able to just swap the main board for a GPU update. on the OG deck, it's the single biggest bottleneck I run into. (for docked gaming on a big screen). Plus a better GPU would allow it to run cooler when only doing 720p and quieter on the fan.

but, Id on't want to buy another Steam Deck :p

And then put down for 5 years... then pick up again.

what a fun little adventure it was.

I've stopped getting into hype for Media. It's allowed me to go into everything blind, and truly experience it without some predetermined expectations.

I am thoroughly enjoying gaming, movies and TV again. twists are actually twists again. I get to learn the world and backstories as they're told by the story tellers.

It makes gaming fun again for me. like it was when I was a kid and just got my first nintendo

Simple Answer: Yes.

Everytime we launch something into space the mass of Earth itself decreases by that amount. There is also energy trade off with the mass stealing a bit of earth's momentum/energy for it to continue as well.

Overall, we're talking about absolutely micro, if not smaller changes in mass and energy and it ultimately has zero affect on anything.

Zero. The answer to this question is Zero. There is no amount of Ketchup that should be added to Kraft Dinner.

[–] Sprawlie 3 points 8 months ago

The situation is even more complicated) While the general population would probably be okay with just being left in peace, there are radical groups like Hamas who want to take back what was taken from them by the British and Israel.

As you said in your edit, the situation is extremely complicated, because it involved groups that are historically opposed for generations, if not centuries.

nice attempted rage bate

There's a massive difference between sharing views, IE: "I don't like billionaires", and Making threatening remarks, or calling to violence (not ok).

trying to frame me pointing out that calls to violence are NOT a good look for Lemmy, is not me calling out censorship. That's you trying to rage bate the conversation into some argument about your rights (which ends where my nose begins)

Not all Arab nations are united in their beliefs or how government / religion should be linked.

Saudi for example has absolutely no love for Iran. Saudi maybe a muslim Kingdom ran by Sultans. But Iran is a Theocracy ran by the Clergy and is far more hell bent on spreading their form of religion to even the other Muslim nations. Jordan for example is fairly secularly run Kingdom. Iran despises that too.

As for "Sides". Israel has existing peace treaties and open relations now with several of it's neighbouring muslim nations. Egypt and Israel have been allied for decades now. Egypt maintains a border wall and blockade of Gaza as well. Jordan and Israel have been fairly peaceful now for decades. And Lebanon frequently looks to Israel military support to quell Hezbollah. Up until Oct 7th, Saudi Arabia was also in negotiations with Israel to normalize relations towards a peace deal.

TORONTO – Reacting to news of Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow’s plan to hike property taxes by more than 10%, the 9 or so people that collectively own all Toronto real estate expressed outrage, saying that Chow is making the city unaffordable.

“This city is expensive enough,” said the landlord who owns everything south of Front Street. “For the mayor to then turn around and raise property taxes knowing that I’m obviously going to immediately pass on that cost to my tenants is truly unconscionable.”

“Sure I can only raise the rent so much every year, but if tenants don’t play ball let’s just say I’ve got a cousin moving from overseas who’s going to need their place,” he added.

Members of the small handful of people that own most of Toronto’s houses, townhouses and condos expressed concern that the tax hikes would have a disruptive effect on their cash flow.

“For the odd person here and there who owns a property not owned by me, this is going to cost them another $300-$600 a year, or about $25-$50 a month,” explained a property manager for the consortium who own the west end. “For someone in our situation, this is going to cost us millions of dollars. How am I going to explain to my bosses that we’re going to make slightly less money this year?”

Others were more pointed in their criticism, calling the abrupt property tax hikes “reckless”, and poorly thought out.

“People are struggling to put food on the table, pay their car bills or, in my case, attain the exponential growth that investors have come to expect from REITs no matter what, and this property tax hike isn’t going to help any of us with our equally relatable problems,” said a private investment fund manager who controls Scarborough and most of Leaside.

“It’s almost like they don’t want massive private investment from outside Canada controlling the market of the country’s largest city?” he added.

At press time, Toronto area home improvement stores have already reported a marked uptick in the sale of cheap paint brushes, ladders, plastic tarps, wall mounted shelving, and other mainstays of performatively large renovations that result in the property looking the exact same.
