Edit: After a bit of research and asking around, it seems that this is likely Cystolepiota bucknallii

Hi! I came across this strange little thing last week and have been struggling to ID it. I'm hoping that maybe someone here can help.

It was found growing in the soil of a mixed forrest, lots of birch, elder, and larch, 10km or so north of the German alps.

Maybe the photo isn't super clear, but the stem is not hollow. And one very distinct feature is that it stank like gasoline or hot plastic. The smell was strong and lingered on my hands long after handling it.

Thank you!

If you bring the wine, you're welcome any time!

I would absolutely love to grow my own, but I unfortunately don't have the space :(

What are you growing?

3 for 3! Do you also collect wild mushrooms? (Though there is also one teeny tiny penny bun tucked in there)

Thanks! There is no specific recipe that I use, but it's basically Cacio e Pepe with pan fried mushrooms and a bit of shallot (no other veg).

A colleague asked if they could join me on a mushroom hunt, we were lucky and found some beautiful wild mushrooms!

If you're a channa masala fan, you should try doubles! It's a street food in Trinidad and Tobago. It's a bit of work but it is definitely worth it. It's basically a west Indie burrito made from a flat bread called bara and channa, and IMO it NEEDS kuchela.

I used to live off of Spanish tortilla when I was a student. All you need is potato, egg, onion, salt and pepper, and a bit of cooking oil for your pan. You can also add other ingredients like muahrooms, tomatoes, sausage, or bacon when you have it.

Haha I've never seen that! Thanks for the share, I needed a laugh today!

I wass lucky enough to find some morels while walking the dog today, so I made pasta with morels and wild garlic and a cocktail made with homemade elder syrup.

I'm usually very bad at decorating cake, so hopefully this one is nice enough to be considered food porn!
