Excuse me, it's Türkiye.

Türkiye is committing war crimes on Kurds in Syria

(this is intended as ironic humor, ^not ^^pedantry)

Something I find delightful is how Terry Pratchett worked this event into his novel Night Watch. Of course the Glorious Revolution of the Twenty-Fifth of May is inspired by many public revolts to oppressive rule, not the least of which is the June Rebellion in Paris in 1832. But it's also no accident that some of the villains of the story work for the Cable Street Particulars, an enforcement arm of the fascist ruling Patrician.

honestly I'm happy the big mark on his career is his art stylings, and not the kind of shit that fucked up Ellis and Gaiman.

Your absolutely right. At the end of the day nobody's perfect. It's fun to shit on some of his work, but also he had a dream, pursued it hard, and succeeded to the point we're shitting on his work. So he's a winner.

That Cap picture tho…

I'm just gonna leave these here.

Also wasn't this dude, like, 21 when he ~~copied Deathstroke and added more pockets~~ created Deadpool? No wonder he was still tracing over photos of bodybuilders and then adding more muscles. He created tesseract physiques that would make Carl Sagan jealous. The guy drew four dimensional bodies in a 2D medium. Rather impressive, really

This is the answer. It's the intersection of those with strong personal opinions and the power (money) to speak their mind without true repercussions, and the power (money) hungry who are following the strongest zeitgeist in the halls of power.

The zeitgeist exists because the entrenched powerful ones are currently using trans people and migrants as a wedge between different parts of the working class. It used to be homosexuals and communists. Or abortions and hippies. Or slaves. Or indigenous people. Ad nauseum. It's about keeping the working class divided and maintaining power. This is the latest version. And it's not just in the US BTW

People like Rowling are new money working class that fell for the con

I think Peanuts is speaking from JKR's perspective, not justifying it

But I also skimmed bits of both of your comments. It's ironic really, because I'm equally verbose

Depends on life circumstances.

I need to bring in 650/wk in personal income to stay afloat. My business needs to bring in $1200/wk to pay me and my apprentice. But i actually need to be clearing $2000/wk in business income to maintain long-term sustainability as a company. It's just me and one employee, who is really a partner in training. So yes, i gotta work all day, every day. When the sun is shining I make hay, and when it's down I do the books. At some point I fit in household chores, and when I'm taking a shit I post on Lemmy.

Do corporations make that necessary? Absolutely. Particularly "property management" corporations that raise rent prices by buying up houses and renting them at extortion levels. Not too mention corporations that raise cost of living prices and call it "inflation".

Can I do anything to not have to pay higher rent and grocery bills? Not a blessed thing.

So I work. And work. And work. Because my choices are to work, kill myself, or kill someone else. The last two aren't really options for me
