Party was lit, yo.

I’m biased but putting the onus on doctors here completely misses the point in my opinion. Let me just point out that this isn’t a “policy change” - these states have made it illegal to perform these procedures. In at least one state the physician can go to prison.

In an idealistic worldview we can expect every person to do the morally optimal thing every time without regard to consequences but that simply isn’t realistic. You are basically advocating that physicians should be jumping to break the law and therefore endanger themselves. That just is not a realistic expectation of any person.

Tl;dr - Physicians are just people and are not the ones that created this situation. They are normal people and expecting them to sacrifice career/freedom to help one patient is beyond what is realistic.

That’s true for a certain percentage but misses part of the point here. Once an alcoholic has successfully detoxed, it is possible and highly encouraged that they do not partake any alcohol going forward.

That simply isn’t possible with obesity as humans require food to survive. So this is where the analogy with alcoholism breaks down as it is never possible for the obese person to be the equivalent of “sober.” Instead they have to learn moderation which is conceptually a different challenge than becoming a teetotaler.

the girl who only ate carrots and turned orange.

I can confirm this is a real thing. When I was a kid my step-mother went on this fad diet that involved drinking carrot juice every day. It was this whole production where she bought a juicer and I remember multiple large bags of carrots coming in the house. There was always leftover carrot pulp in the trash, etc. Anyways she went wild with it for a time and sure enough her skin started turning slightly orange, mostly along her forearms where the skin was thin.

That’s when the carrot juice stopped.

So yeah she wasn’t an Oompa Loompa but it was definitely a visible change.

The analogy comes from another post (which I can’t find at the moment) about a bartender running off a guy wearing nazi paraphernalia. When questioned by a patron the bartender explains that you can’t let them in because if you allow a Nazi in your bar once, the next time he brings a few friends. Then they become regulars and get louder and the next thing you know they have run off decent customers and you now have a Nazi bar.

Who knows if the story is true but it is meant to illustrate how fascist culture is like a cancer that takes over and displaces everything if allowed a foothold. It cannot be tolerated.

So hopefully you can see how it is not similar to having gay patrons in a bar. No one reaonably expects that a few gay patrons are going to start acting aggressively and trying to make others feel threatened or uncomfortable. But that is bread and butter for Nazis.

They almost made a truck with the Silverado EV but then they had to turn it into whatever the Avalanche is supposed to be with fins coming off the cab that get in the way of things. Anyways, not to sound bitter but some people like to be able to put camper shells, tool boxes, or other accoutrement on the back.

R1T is decent, just really expensive.

You talking about Tortured Poets Department? Jokes aside about recommending a popular artist as an ‘unpopular’ opinion - I actually do disagree. I’m a pretty solid Swift fan but TPD doesn’t really do anything for me. I’ve listened to the whole album a couple of times and I found the songs all kind of samey and forgettable.

If you want to introduce people to Swift, I’d vote for “All Too Well” which I think is just such a brilliant, relatable song about unrequited love.

Edit: Currently relistening to TPD and I have to admit Florida!!! is better than I remembered.

He’s not a robot though, right? I though replicants were genetically engineered humans?

Haha oh man that is such a nice sleek layout compared to….whatever is happening on my planet. Truth time - I’m really bad at this game but I have a blast playing it. My layouts are not slick at all. Thanks a lot for the link!

Thanks for this tip, I was thinking maybe I could just sort of deal with the biomass stuff by hand until I reached coal but I took a chance tonight and built a line for biomass production like you described and it works well. Cheers!
