I've noticed that talking to people that some common tropes seem to come up when topics like socialism come up.

Basically I hear a lot of defense of capitalism that boils down to capitalism is good because "I personally benefit". As well as "I've heard bad things about socialism", ie taxes are too high in countries with good healthcare and social programs.

I wanted to know if other people have these issues come up in conversation and if people more well spoken than me have a way of getting through the road blocks and have some easy starting points for discussing things with people.

I feel like propaganda and fear mongering have placed a divide that make talking about things harder

I live in one of the top 10 largest cities in the US and the concept of a functional public transportation system is alien. Gotta be at work at 630 or 7 am? Gotta get home from work after 7pm? Too bad that's too early or too late to make it because the bus doesn't run 24 hours.

The Borg don't want him

Landlord messaged again a second time after his mom left saying that he's selling the place. He also sent a few messages bragging about how he's not going to turn off utilities in response to me telling his mom to leave.

He messaged again. Well the felon is coming back over apparently. Apparently the landlord has more stuff he wants him to get. The landlord messaged that right after work called me to see if I want some OT. I guess I have to choose between staying and reporting the guy (I don't want to be getting charged if something happens between this guy and his gf) and getting paid. I'd prefer if he was actually sending people over for legit reasons but I guess I'm just supposed to accept the fact that 3 times in a 24 hour period different people are just going to be coming and going through my place, none with a proper notice (48 hours where I'm from, unless they are there for some kind of emergency repairs).

I'm not sure if they are smart enough to actually give a legitimate eviction notice. The message that he sent me wouldn't fly as one where I'm at.

He's basically just been stacking up a bunch of different behaviors and things that violate the tenant act here for the last year or so. I plan on definitely appealing the judgment with my copies of my payment information and correspondence from the landlord. If he tries to come up with an eviction that is for something wrong on my end of things instead of a no-cause one, I think his slumlord behavior wouldn't look so great on his part. I think it would be a while before I need to get out because he's not handling anything legally.

Knowing him I think instead of giving an actual eviction notice he's going to assume that some vague text he sent counts and then just call the police on me. All of that probably gives me a bit of extra time to save up some money for finding a better place to stay.

Yeah sorry my thoughts are all a mess here I'm not sure if I'm properly describing the situation or getting across everything that's happening but basically it's been bad for a while. He doesn't handle anything the correct way. It's like he could have these people over all he wants if he would just send a message two days in advance and there wouldn't be a thing I could do about it, but he doesn't instead he freaks out when I'm not there to handle his guests or provide them access.

My landlord has a storage closet in the house and he told his friend to come in today while I was at work. The front door has a deadbolt so rather than using the side door he jumped in through my bedroom window and went and got whatever from the storage and left.

My landlord texted me to tell me he was very disappointed that this is the second time in a row that I was not allowing access for his random friends and family to come over and check on the place (last time I actually was at the doctor's office when apparently his mom couldn't get in without more than 1 hours notice).

He's sending over his mother in the morning which he messaged me at 9pm. I really want to just leave the deadbolt unlocked and just call the cops and tell them she's trespassing when she shows up.

Also the icing on the cake of all of this is apparently the thing that his friend was coming to get was a gun that he was storing with my landlord because he is a prohibited possessor, not allowed to have guns because he has domestic violence charges.

Update: The mom did end up coming over. She started saying she's in charge now and went back and forth about asking me to do maintenance on the outside of the property that I'm not responsible for and just talking bs I said that they can just evict me if they want and then started screaming up until I said "If there isn't anything else can you please go". That made her pretty irate and she said she was calling the cops.

She started tossing things around the kitchen and I went into my room locked it and called the cops. They showed up in about a minute and asked her to leave and she said that the whole reason that she had came there was for a piece of furniture or something. They took her over to a couch that was probably bigger than her car and she tried dragging it for about 3 feet then said she doesn't need it and left.

The landlord ended up messaging me afterwards telling me I was never a tenant here and he's going to get proof and then asked if I could be out in a few weeks.

While I don't know much about video cards, the IBM Monochrome Display Adapter (MDA) is often called the first video card and had a couple of contenders for first that were either designed earlier or released at almost the same time in 1981 and were all for displaying text only. The first GPU card sold to the public was the GeForce 256 in 1999. I'm assuming there's some in between that were not really used by the public that would have been used in movies and whatnot.

The reason why nobody was selling GPUs before Quake was because quake was THE first 3D game. Doom and other games before Quake were 2.5D and didn't have 3D models only sprites. Games before Quake essentially mimicked 3D while Quake IS 3D

I'm fairly certain that the left one is Combat Evolved

I'd argue that quake did far more for 3D graphics then it did for FPS. Like Doom is what got FPS into the spotlight even though Wolfenstein 3d came first. Like quake is pretty much what made real 3D possible and doable on the hardware of the time thanks to everything going on under the hood

Depending on when you do it it's possible there could be very little resistance or security in your way in some hypothetical situations. For example let's say a court order goes through for FB to release something from their servers, if an independent person with no ties to the company suddenly decided to go after the servers a less than ethical organization might see that as a golden opportunity to do whatever would allow that to happen while still getting them caught afterwards. I'm just having a fun thought exercise

No but that's like a major red flag type of thing. I was wondering how they get away with that to begin with

All right it says in the wiki that this all kicked off because a kid was getting disciplined at school for something they did in their bedroom and no details are given about that part. That alone seems really messed up

the process still relies on fetal bovine serum (FBS) as a protein-rich growth supplement for animal cell cultures.

FBS, which costs around £300 to £700 per litre

That's a fancy serum made from cow blood

Also this all comes from a submission to an art museum in 2020, it's not supposed to be an actual product it's more of a proof of concept type of thing.

I don't think this should be downvoted. It's in its' appropriate community and it lists a legitimate source

I'm currently scheduled for some specialists for the issue, but I thought maybe I could talk to people on here about it.

I injured my neck about 10 days ago, something fell off a shelf and hit me a bit under my Adam's apple. I didn't notice anything right away and felt alright.

Then the next day my neck was a bit sore and swollen and I gave a ring to a nurse hotline from my insurance and they said that it was more than likely fine and to go to the hospital if it doesn't improve after 48 hours after it happened. So I ended up going to the hospital the following night when my neck was feeling worse and I was walking around with my head cocked at an angle. They checked to see if my vein on the side that was hit was working with an ultrasound after the Dr couldn't feel anything through the swelling. They gave me a lidocaine patch some anti-inflammatories and sent me on my way.

Then went I woke up 7 days after I was feeling pain all the way up the whole side of my neck all the way up to my ear and I had several fits of gasping for air. I went to the hospital again over the whole difficulty breathing thing and they did a CT and saw that my trachea was fractured and had signs of healing. So they gave me steroids and some pepcid and sent me on my way.

The following day I had several fits of difficulty breathing where I was gasping for air while the part of my neck that got hit was feeling a good deal of pain.

I've gone to my PCP and he gave me a referral for a gastroenterologist and an ENT. Both of which I'll be waiting about a month or so to see.

My concern is that since the problems breathing it's been happening occasionally when I move and especially if I lie down or get up from lying down and it feels like I'm being choked constantly.

Idk I appreciate any thoughts or feedback or anything like that.

I haven't read much lore surrounding the fall of the Eldar.

I'm interested in stories that fill in the in-between area of advanced immortal empire and what's basically a Slanneshi cult, similar to how the Horus Heresy books detail people falling to Chaos.

Having not read anything on it aside from the codexs and one rulebook section I can say that the fall just feels like a plot point without context, kind of like "suddenly everyone got bored and decided to become an insane hedonist cult".

Are any of the few books on the subject worth the read as far as filling in that part of the setting? I understand that Phoenix Rising has a prologue about it and there is a flashback sequence of sorts about it in Fulgrim, are those worth the read if I'm currently just trying to find books about the dead spaces in my understanding of the lore?

Found him on my porch a few months back and snagged him
