The whole thing is worth a read, but for those quickly skimming through, here's a summary:

Red Festival Free Fly cancelled while they're focusing on tackling critical issues to help honor what they promised in the recent Letter from the Chairman.

Top Priorities:

  • Elevators & Transit Issues
  • Character Stowing & Repair
  • Ship Hangar/Spawning Issues
  • Initial Load Time & Login Errors
  • Mission/Contract Issues
  • Quantum Travel and Starmap
  • LTP and Keeping What We Earn
  • Additional Fixes:
    • Mineables taking too long to fully load in
    • Invulnerable actors, which can include both AI and players
    • Freight Elevators at outposts becoming stuck and impeding missions
    • Collision issues where players may clip through a ship, the floor, etc.
    • Power allocation issues setting ship power to 0 or off randomly
    • Inability to equip some components discovered in Contested Zones
    • And more...

  • Client Side

► Changing shards was causing mission location travel markers to become removed from the player. We have put in a fix to resolve this issue.
► Weapons on gimbals on gimbals (2x) under pilot were not getting proper weapon grouping and thus not getting a PIP. A fix has put in to help with this.
► We have put in a change to help with client/server zone mismatching which could cuase many transit/elevator issues. This requires both client/servers to be hotfixed. Please let us know if this reduces or helps with elevators opening to nothing!

  • DGS/Hybrid Side

► Fixed 1 Server Crash
► Grim Hex turrets are firing upon players with Crime Stats from other jurisdictions. A fix has been put in as Quantum Travel was not properly handling hostility and not removing it and causing the issue.
► Mineables in the PU were getting into a state where the render node was getting stuck and not transitioning into an entity. This could take up to an hour for this to unstick itself. We have put in a DGS fix that should aliviate this issue.

As far as the voices go, I have a good friend that uses Eleven Labs voices for some of his D&D campaigns and he's very satisfied with the results.

This could make it really easy to scale up a variety of voices across all of the different environments. For example, while the same thing may be said in one hospital vs another, you could have a different voice in every location or even based on day/night cycles.

You wouldn't even be limited to having them say the exact same things, you could script locations to say slightly different things and the model would automatically adjust the voice for that.

Considering the business model of Eleven Labs, I wouldn't expect anything to be made on the fly, this would still just generate a bunch of audio files that they would then incorporate into the game.

Yeah, it's working a lot better for me than the previous version.

Started off in Orison, jumped to Pyro and started completing headhunter missions (attack the convoy ones).

NPCs are spawning in on each mission consistently and they are reacting quickly once I attack.

FPS (both server and client) is still way better than 3.24.

Played a few times already for a few hours at a time no crashes or server errors.

I've heard other players are experiencing issues with elevators... I had one open up into the void, but trying a different one worked... And bed logging helps avoid any potential issues between the habs and the hangars.

The UI Aspect Modifier is working again (for those of you with Ultra-wide or triple monitor setups).

Some things are still buggy and broken nothing that prevented me from playing the event, but there are a lot of players that don't have any missions showing up in their contract tab at all.

We'll see how things hold up once the servers have more time to accumulate all the clutter from players.

They did it to to Helldivers 2 and now this... Have they done it to any other games after sales were made in those countries?

Probably summarizing Zoom/Teams meetings and picking out action items for people to follow up on.

I thought not.

It's already available for anyone to use. https://github.com/openai/whisper

They're using OpenAI's Whisper model for this: https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc/-/merge_requests/5155

I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet

[–] QuadratureSurfer 1 points 4 weeks ago

Hey, it actually stopped without plowing on very far at all. That's better than what I expected to happen.

For the specs of what it is and what else is out there, it's actually a really good price.

People like to compare it to the cheapest headsets out there, but it has specs that beat the highest end headsets out there and it's cheaper than those.

When the Apple Vision pro came out, the closest device sporting similar specs would be the Varjo XR-3 which was only available to Enterprise users. It cost $7k plus a $1500 yearly subscription, plus you needed a powerful computer to run it.

Basically, hardware wise, it's good, but for it's actual uses it's not worth the $3500.

Pretty cool use of MRIs and AI (machine learning to unroll them and read the letters).

Similar (or the same?) tech has been used to read the Dead Sea Scrolls.

They changed up recently how they define "wave" access. More details here:

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/1/thread/ptu-wave-restructure-sharpening-the-tools-1

And yes, usually by the time they open up the PTU to all waves it means that they're close to having a viable Live candidate.

Currently, 4.0 is now on the "Preview" live/PU channel. Anything that you do now will persist until the next wipe (probably sometime in the next year or two).

However, they did a weird dual release that they've never done before so that, if the servers are bad enough, you could still go back to the 3.24.3 version (although any further progress you make there will not persist much longer).
