Or fries are just potato strips cooked in oil.

Most accidents are pilot error, and pilots with a personal license do not typically have nearly as much training as a commercial pilot.

how much difference is it? It does seem like there are more accidents with personal flights than commercial flights

have you tried putting some concealer or foundation on your lips before putting lip colour on to neutralize the pigmentation?

if you have pigmented lips then it may be picking up purply tones on your lips so you could look for purply lipsticks

This is commonly seen in K-dramas. Probably they have to give some time before actual eviction?

didnt know this was a common trope!

Some of them trash used gear that doesn’t sell. I got 3 full Kia Souls worth of used tents that just had rips or a missing rain fly for free to distro from one such store. This particular avenue is more likely if you are working with a group that can give a tax deductable credit to the store for their donation

will look into this, thank you!

Wow, that is insanely cold. I'm glad there is shelter for the people in your city.

Thanks for your message - really appreciate the links as well. It will be -13 feeling like -23 with the windchill over the next few days. Here it will often be wet and cold rather than soft snow and cold so there is definitely a hypothermia/frostbite concern. I'll call up the shelters in the morning and see what would be most helpful; i will pick up some wool blankets if they have no particular preference.

i have a skirt that has an elastic waist, i don't think it's high waisted and the waistband sticks out a little bit since it's elastic. Would it be possible to alter this skirt to a regular waist band (such as the type that would have a zipper) and make it high waisted?

Two sisters from Kingston and their adoptive mother have been charged by Iqaluit RCMP with two counts each of fraud over $5,000 following an investigation into allegations they falsely claimed to be Inuit in order to receive a benefit as adopted Inuit children through Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporation (NTI).

In April, NTI asked police to investigate the actions of twins Amira and Nadya Gill and their adoptive mother Karima Manji in applying for enrolment under the Nunavut Act.

The Gill sisters have been awarded scholarships and launched a business based on their Inuit status.

Between October 2016 and September 2022, RCMP allege the women "used this Inuit beneficiary status to defraud the Kakivak Association and Qikiqtani Inuit Association of funds that are only available to Inuit beneficiaries by obtaining grants and scholarships."

The allegations have not been tested in court.

The three are scheduled to appear in an Iqaluit court on October 30.

Their adoptive mother, Karima Manji, was charged with fraud in 2015 over $5,000, theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000 and presenting a forged document. She was the executive director of Kingsmere Retirement Living in Alliston and placed on administrative leave after being charged by Toronto Police for allegedly defrauding March of Dimes of $800,000. https://www.toronto.com/news/crime/alliston-retirement-home-director-charged-in-march-of-dimes-fraud/article_72614d3b-ec61-5d61-8901-83b4a51eb76c.html

The family of Kitty Noah, the Inuk woman who Toronto twins Amira and Nadya Gill have allegedly claimed as their mother to gain “Inuit status” and access to thousands of dollars in Indigenous scholarship money, say they’ve never heard of them.

The Gills applied for and received Inuit identity through Nunavut Tunngavik Inc, or NTI. NTI is responsible for ensuring promises made to Inuit under the Nunavut Agreement are carried out, and they enroll Inuit people as beneficiaries of that agreement.

“It has been a complete shock to find out that Amira and Nadya Gill were registered under the Nunavut agreement using the name of my mother,” said Noah Noah, Kitty’s son in a written statement from the family and posted on social media.

The Noah family said while they’ve never heard of the twins but they know of their mother, Karima Manji.

Noah, the eldest of Kitty’s seven children, said he is her legal guardian because his mother has suffered two brain injuries in her lifetime and requires daily assistance.

“We do not know the Gill sisters and had no knowledge that they existed, but Karima Manji their mother is known to our family,” said Noah.

In an email March 29, Amira Gill said their Inuit heritage comes through the Noah and Hughes families from Iqaluit, and that their mother lived with a man named Harry Hughes.

Noah explained to a reporter from the Local Journalism Initiative with Nunatsiaq News, that Hughes is his father, who died in 1997. He added that Hughes and Manji briefly dated before Hughes died.

However, it was his mother, Kitty Noah who was listed as a birth mother on the application, according to Noah.

“My mother is a vulnerable person who may have been exploited. It is our priority at this time to protect her dignity.”

Noah has also said his family did not file the complaint with Nunavut Tunngavik Inc.

In Chinese culture, red is a lucky colour; it's often used for gift giving or weddings. Similarly in Hinduism, red is considered lucky (as far as I've read) and brides wear red at their weddings. The only commonality I can see between Indian culture and Chinese culture (in terms of beliefs) is Buddhism, is it because of this or something entirely different or a coincidence?

I was thinking about this recently. In chinese languages we have this word 彩礼, it means basically a dowry. I'm sure this exists in other regions too.

many millennials (particularly those growing up in most progressive families or regions) are opposed to the notion of a dowry as they found it objectifying, however their fiance's family might be traditional and want to pay it, how does one resolve this issue where someone will be offended either way?

"'Without status you can't do anything in this country,' said one undocumented migrant"

Migrants, including undocumented people, students and refugees, marched in cities across Canada Sunday to demand permanent residency status for all ahead of the resumption of federal parliament on Monday.

In Toronto, migrants and supporters marched downtown, including through the intersection of Yonge Street and Dundas Street, prompting police to say on social media that traffic in the area had been disrupted.

The protesters are calling on the government to create an uncapped program that would grant permanent resident status to all migrants and undocumented people without any exclusions, according to Sarom Rho, an organizer with Migrant Workers Alliance for Change.

"Without permanent resident status migration, undocumented people are facing massive exploitation at work, are denied life saving treatments in healthcare, live in daily fear of deportation and the pain of family separation," Rho said.

The protest comes after Canada's temporary foreign worker program was labelled a "breeding ground for contemporary forms of slavery" by a United Nations official earlier this month. Tomoya Obokata, UN special rapporteur on contemporary forms of slavery, called on the federal government to give all temporary foreign workers a pathway to longer term or permanent residency.

At the time, a spokesperson for Immigration Minister Marc Miller's office wouldn't say if such a permanent pathway would be instituted.

"We cannot speculate on future policies. All new policies will be announced publicly," a spokesperson said in an email to CBC News. The ministry did not reply to a request for comment on this story prior to publication.

Rho said Sunday that there are 1.7 million people in Canada on temporary study or work permits. She says they are growing Canada's food, taking care of children and working in essential frontline jobs.

"That's one in 23 people and it hurts all of us when there is a section of our society who are denied the same rights and protections [as everyone else]," Rho said.

Jane, an undocumented immigrant from Uganda, attended the protest in Toronto. She requested CBC News withhold her last name because of her precarious immigration status.

After living undocumented in Canada for six years, Jane says she wants permanent residency so she can get a good job and be treated equally.

"A fair job where you won't be discriminated, where you earn decent wages, where you [are] free to go wherever you want, to reunite with your families," she said. "Without status you can't do anything in this country."

I have my personal complain about Alexander McQueen - he's never touched any of this with his name on it since 2010 so it feels not right that it's called his name, Sarah does great work so I still like following the brand

Netflix trailer (english subtitles): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqVVrTvrI8U

Would highly recommend watching the show "The Glory". Strong warning for depictions of violent bullying.
