Oh that is very slick! I have the larger SFF (not USFF). Maybe I should look into getting a 3D printer next

Hey all I am looking for some ideas to make my Dell SFF optiplexs rack mounted. Has anyone ever got them into a 1U chasie?

I'm in the early stages of redoing my homelab hardware. I have two Dell Optiplexs and I want to fit them in my rack / make them more aesthetically pleasing but without taking up any more space.

The only reason I'm not looking to replace them with a USFF / mini server is because I like being able to have two drives and pci slot for Ethernet ports but I'm willing to hear out other cost effective options. My rack is a short depth rack.

I stopped using the integration once Garmin allowed for 2FA and the integration has not been updated to support it

I think I'm looking for something that does not exist

I am looking for a cheap rack multiple chassis / enclosure that I can stick individual hard drives in and then plug them into my servers through USB or SATA. So DAS storage.

I can't find anything on the web that exists. Even anything from Etsy that's custom made. It's all $200 or more and includes some sort of controller. I just want something I can put my drives in and then plug in.

Does it exist?

I'm moving my lab from larger optiplexs to micro computers (Wyse 5070 and m92p).

I'm trying to figure out the best cheap and easy storage. My first though was to use USB flash drives as VM storage. Add it to Promox as ZFS my mirror storage so I can just swap them out if they fail.

I don't need them to be super fast as the work road will be low.

I'm not sure if this is the cheapest most compact way to do storage or if there are better options

Thank you so much! Sorry for the late reply but I figured it out doing pretty much what you said. Button node to JSON node that coverts to a JSON string and then pass that into the template

I'll post more info when I'm at a computer

I run my own a VM.

I was sceptical about running in a OS that I can't run my normal updates and automations on but HA OS has been rock solid and easy. Plus you get a few more features

Hey all,

So I'm relatively new to node-red and have a seems-easy-can't-figure-it-out problem

I'm creating a remote with a zigbee IR blaster and building out the automations in Node-red. While automation is working - I'm cleaning it up a bit to look better and trying to do the following.

Button press (IR code as payload) ->> node?? JSON template I can put payload in as a variable ->> MQTT node.

I am just looking for whatever node goes in the middle. I just need a node where I can place the JSON format and insert the IR code from the previous Node. Thanks!

Saturated, syrup like, gatorade on one shoulder, water on the other.

You can buy these big containers of the Gatorade power that will make 8 gallons or something. Was 8-10 dollars a container if remember correctly.

When I ran ultras I would measure it out and drink the syrup like gatorade so I could get X amount of calories in an hour along with whatever food I would eat.

All depends what your stomach can handle. Mine did not mind the loads of surgar but some people get sick fast of it. Keep me hydrated and full of electrolytes. There is definitely better hydration / fuling out there but it's cheap.

Looking for some well priced door sensors. I heard the Xfinity / Comcast ones on ebay do well and also do temperature.

Anyone have any experience with them or know if anything better priced?

After doing some research I'm thinking about zoysia. I live in zone 8A

Not sure what type though

Here are some of the rocks. A big pile. An example of the breakable rocks and the "real" ones

Awesome! This points me in the right direction. Now I just need to find some candles that will work with the bridge, I guess it's a guessing game.

And after reading your post.... This will be useful for other things too.

Hey all!

Did some research on this but does not seem to be too much out there on this subject. Does anyone have any battery operated candles they have successfully integrated with Homeassistant?

The number one solution I see is buying candles with a remote and then using a IR bridge to turn them on and off. I'm not sure how reliable this ost or where to start.

I think I would need a IR bridge for at least two different parts of the house that then connect back to home assistant and then I would also need candles with IT remotes that I could control from the hass bridge.

Sorry to hear that. Living in the mountains around trails sounds like a dream

new build, rock filled yard. (self.homeimprovement)

Hey all!

I know this may only be somewhat related to this thread but I was hoping for some help with my lawn.

I just moved into a new build and most of the 1.5 acre yard is red clay and rocks. So many rocks.some bigger than my fist, most on the small side. I've tried to pick them up but it feels like an impossible task.

Further more, I have found that 75% of these rocks are not rocks? They are hard and silver but if I squeeze them hard enough the break up.

I can't tell between a rock that will break my window from my lawn mower and these faux rocks.

Any tips on getting my lawn in order?

Whoops! Fixed. Thank you!

I think instead of going completely dark it may be beneficial to lock down the subreddit with a sticky linking to related communities inside the federation to help people find a new home

Hey all! Looking to run to CAT5e in my house and preparing for what I need to do. My biggest hurdle right now is trying to see if I have a fire block and the best way to go about drilling a hole in it. With the amount of runs i'm doing to this spot I doubt I can use preexisting holes.

Used to be an avid runner, ran plenty of 5K's up to marathons and then got into the ultra scene and ran everything up to and including 100 milers

Just moved in the middle of nowhere and this is nothing but farms. No pavement or dirt roads to run on either. I have a park with a half mile loop about 20 min. out and that's it.

Its nice being out where I am but sucks not having a place to run.
