we'll try to get the post out the coming week, at this time we're roughly looking at updating late January.

that surely wasn't intended to be paused for an extended period. I wasn't actively aware of this until now. usually we update all interfaces automatically shortly after releases.

i assume there was an issue at some point where the update broke something and it was forgotten to follow up on that later. I'll have a look at that later.

many communities would be happy to have more mods. many of these cases come from the lack of people volunteering to moderate a community. this is already being considered when people are promoted as moderators in communities by our admin or community team if a community doesn't have active moderators. we already try to find people that aren't already moderating as many communities in those cases.

suggesting ‘crimes that have not yet happened’ - itself is not a violation

this was already covered. this is not a new change. if you write "someone should kill person XYZ" this is clearly a call for murder that we do not tolerate here. discussing jury nullification in the same context where murder or other violent crimes are suggested is what was clarified to be subject for moderator action.

it depends on what you're looking for.

there is a room for lemmy moderation in general, not associated with LW, but there isn't much activity: #lemmy-support-moderation:discuss.online

for LW we currently only have our mod coordination discord, which you seem to have joined already. you'll need to use the /verify command to link your lemmy account though before you get access to the channels.

at least US SSN is 9 digit so I think it's fake, otherwise I fully agree

you did just a few days ago when you sent that email.

[–] MrKaplan 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

no. you sent us an email from the address linked to the other account, which clearly proves that you still have access to that email address. control over that email address is how you prove that the account belongs to you.

you can use the forgot password link visible on the login page to receive an email to set a new password for the lemmy account as long as you have access to the linked email address.

please at least try to make an effort to understand technology.

after we received the email about account recovery from the email address linked to Don_Dickle we sent instructions there for how to regain access to that account.

this is a known issue with Firefox that started several firefox versions ago. there has been a change in cookie handling in lemmy since then to address that. we're currently reviewing our next steps regarding updating to a newer lemmy version and will post about that in the next days.

I haven't seen the actual error message displayed, but "failed external validation" is definitely how the scanning process works.

By illegal we are not referring to copyrighted content or anything like that, only much more serious things.

Unfortunately, this will sometimes falsely identify content that should be allowed. In the past this would have silently erased the image shortly after the upload, with this only becoming noticeable days after the upload due to caching.

while this is generally the intention, unfortunately we're not always there yet.

i know that lemmy <-> piefed already works, but private messages between lemmy and mastodon users for example do not currently work, and there is also currently no indicator that those messages never were delivered. for lemmy <-> mastodon, this is tracked in https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/2657 and there is work going on right now to resolve this incompatibility.
