Copied and shared with permission of u/vikicrays from the r/Etsy subreddit:

Since it became difficult to find the links for support, i’ve collected them when sellers mentioned they found help. i hope one of these will work for you *** see below ***

here is the link to the “how to contact support” from the seller’s handbook.

try this link or this link to initiate chat or email.

here is a link to request a callback.

or try this link or this link to email them.

if you email them you should get an automated reply and once you do, you must reply to this email that their automated best guess solutions did not work (something like “i still need help” is sufficient). if you do not complete this step, no further action will be taken on your issue/question so it’s critical.

it’s easy to think “the squeaky wheel gets the grease” and barrage support with multiple daily emails thinking it will speed things up. in reality doing so actually slows things down, because the software used to log and keep track of customer support calls and e-mails uses an automated ticketing system. the date/time stamp of your last email will become your new place in the queue where it will search to see if you have other support tickets and combined them all into one (so all of your issues/questions can be addressed at once.) every new email resets the time stamp associated with your issue/question and takes you back to the end of the queue.

*** none of these links seem to work all the time. also know they may, or may not work outside the usa, may or may not work outside non-standard usa business hours (m-f & 8-5) and like many companies on major holidays, support may be limited, if available at all (hopefully holidays are posted in advance before a new year begins but i do not know if etsy does this)***

We could probably use a better Icon too, if anyone volunteers. Thanks for your consideration to this task.

As part of the configuration for this Etsy Sellers community there is a way to add a banner to the top of the page. I just don't have the time or the skills to do a decent job.

So, we are up to 10 members now,, and if anyone here has the ability to create a nice banner for our community I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

I keep seeing posts on Reddit about sellers making this mistake, so I thought I would post this warning.

There is no number that a buyer or seller can call to talk to Etsy customer service. The only way to talk to a customer service representative at Etsy is to request a call-back through the Etsy site.

The phone number that has been coming up for people when they try to use Google to get the Etsy phone number is a scam. Whoever answers the number tries to trick the caller into downloading an app on their phone to resolve their problem. I have no idea what this app would do, because I have not read about anyone actually falling for the scam. But, Etsy will NEVER ask you to download an app to your phone for any reason.

I hope this note keeps sellers from falling for this scam.

If you read anything in my post that needs to be corrected please let me know. I'm new to Lemmy and I may not have explained it correctly

Well, the mods at r/EtsySellers gave me permission to post about this community there so we may get some new members. If you participate on r/EtsySellers maybe you could drop a post there sharing your experience with Lemmy in general to help encourage people to drop by here?

Honestly, I have never had a problem with a lack of "seller" support in over 8 years, but I do understand that there have been issues for others, both as sellers and buyers.

I think however that Etsy gets bad press in that regard simply because people tend to post on Reddit when they have an problem, but not when things go well. In addition, there are less than 1% of the total from all Etsy sellers on r/EtsySellers, so it's not really even a good sample size to base anything on really.

The whole "drop shipper" situation really sucks, and Etsy SHOULD HAVE kept on top of it from the start. But, it also needs to kept in mind that it's the nature of the beast. When there are over 7 million shops, and anyone can set up a new shop in just a few minutes, people are going to break the rules.

Etsy can't hire enough human beings to monitor every new shop, every new product, and every product listing that can change from something allowed to something that breaks the rules 24/7/365.

Well, they could, but our fees would skyrocket to cover the cost. Nobody wants that! lol

People talk about how there could be some sort of automated verification for product listings being hand made, but even then there would be so many mistakes made against listings that were actually hand made it would necessitate hiring many more Etsy employees to manually review those issues too.

I do think that it has gone too far now though, and Etsy should have implemented something to deal with the problem a long time ago, before it got out of hand like it has now. With the current way things are its going to be difficult for Etsy to rein in.

One things I know for sure is, if more people would actually document properly and report the rule breakers then Etsy would have a better chance to deal with them. If rule breakers aren't reported Etsy has no way of knowing who is breaking the rules.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of sellers don't want to be bothered reporting rule breakers. They don't see it as worth their time.

Thanks for your post!

I have actually messaged the Mods on the r/EtsySellers sub on Reddit to ask if it would be okay to post info about this community here on Lemmy. I have not heard back from them yet, but if they are okay with it I figure there will be others joining up once I get to post the info.

If you don't mind me asking, why is it that you are looking to move away from Etsy? It's always a good idea to use multiple channels to sell your products, but Etsy has a lot of benefits that you simply won't find anywhere else.

I suggest expanding rather than "moving away" from Etsy.

Good luck to Lemmy.world! I just found out about Lemmy, and started the Etsy Sellers community here. This should be interesting to say the least. Thanks for the opportunity.

Hoping to start a fresh new community for Etsy sellers. Post anything that you'd like to discuss about Etsy and your shop.
