Thanks for the update - it's early days yet - plenty will change soon I guess, cheers.

Considering the fact the trees are dark and the grass and building bright, this was probably a candidate for hdr. Chances may have been slight to capture the full dynamic range.

That being said, it's still a good composition and a good shot. I'd be very interested to see what outcome you have if you re-shoot and take your exposure reading from the green of the grass - I've read that grass is middle grey.

It might, just might eliminate the blown highlights - but don't take my word for it as I'm often told I'm wrong.

There's a sync app for Android just noticed the other day on pstore - just getting into calibre so bit too early for me to be using it. Looks cool though.

Not really sure if you're have had any more 'control' over colours with any other camera - why do you think that's an issue?

What I really like is the angle you've taken it from and the softness that's coming from the trees in the centre - that haziness for want of a better word.

It's a very pleasing photograph, my only critique might be that the area of sunlight seems slightly blown out - so I might have been inclined to under expose it by say a third of a stop - of course that wouldn't help you with your desire not to have the shadows look like - erm, shadows?

Good photo, enjoyed looking at it, thanks for sharing, keep it up, ~~shoot raw~~.

Edit - missed the fact it can't shoot raw

Looks fantastic - and the wrapping... did you finish it off with a blow torch?

What exactly do you mean by lazy - hard to get up at 4am for that sunrise shot? Personally, it's hard too. Not sure what I'd do differently as its difficult to comment on an approach that someone has already done. I'll post a poppy shot when I get round to processing them. Yes, I'm good at taking shots, but they languish on my hard drive for weeks!

A very instructive set of contents - I never realised that red caused any particular problem. Many thanks for the info and the tips on your workflow - they'll come in useful when I'm out and about spotting red poppies (ie today).

So you took two sets of shots then (... a few days later you said) - no merging or photoshopping of them?

Good to chat, thanks again for the help.

Been using Joplin for a while now connecting all my notes using Nextcloud. It's pretty solid and just gets the job done. It may not be feature rich but it has markdown support and note linking. Worth a try as its free.

Looks great, can you explain how you bring out the reds if, as you say, they're such a hard color?

Thanks for the info, maybe early days for the software just yet but the link you sent just crashes jerboa.

I'm getting the picture though - early days for me too.

Now I'm confused - if I'm logged into lemmy world, it's this not just another community that I can subscribe to? Why does the link take me to somewhere with no (obvious) subscribe?

Can you please explain? Tia
