One of Reddit major shareholders is Advance Publication. Advance Publication is a parent company to Conde Nast. Conde Nast is a parent company to Wired.
It's like Russian dolls but it all comes back to the same investment group.
You know, I don't think I mattered that much to Reddit at large. I mostly lurked and occasionally posted.
But I don't need Lemmy to be as sprawling as Reddit.. The people are nice, the topics are interesting, and I'm finding instances that I want to subscribe to every day.
I'm ok with it.. Reddit can burn or just go on without me. I'm happy here.
This is good advice. I was very sad about losing rif but I've been having a wonderful time finding new communities on Lemmy.
Highly recommend the Bulwark Podcast Presents: The Corruption of Lindsey Graham.
It's fascinating how he presciently described the danger of Trump for our democracy and then became a boot licker.
