I'm not sure what's local to you, but Aldi sells a goat cheese spread that's mixed with blueberries.

She's put it out for guests and people are drawn to it, it's pretty delicious, and goes well with just crackers.

I like how Jon Stewart put it this week:

"Republicans rely on loopholes, while Democrats rely on norms."

His whole thing this week was begging the Democrats to fight, to start getting dirty, throwing punches, to basically just not roll over.

But he kept reiterating the Dems need to get over the norms, they need to stop relying on the norms. He cited the hypocrisy of not approving Garland, but rushing through Amy Coney Barrett, and showed how the Dems brought McConnell's own words to the floor of the Senate.

"And thus, Amy Coney Barrett, head hung, was forced to return to her homestead in-- Wait, what's that? They didn't give a fuck?!"

Or the Parliamentarian not allowing something Biden proposed to move forward, and Biden just rolled over. "Oh, uh, we didn't know about that rule."

I'm incredibly disappointed too, they're supposed to fight for us, regardless of circumstances, and we get... The response we get. I completely agree the GOP and Trump were telling us they were going to steal it, and had precedent that clearly tried to last time, and the Dems just... Accepted it. The GOP launched dozens of lawsuits and recounts over handfuls of ballots, but the Dems have just moved on despite these statistical anomalies.

Not a great way to maintain your already waning support among your voting base: telling them they need to fight and support them in their fight, and then they just stop fighting.

The G looks completely unrelated to any of the other letters.

I see this, since half of the letters appear to be uppercase, and the other half lowercase:

garbage disposal soup

We called this "Moscow Soup" at the last couple kitchens I worked in.

Us: Uh, Chef, that's a lot of different ingredients and leftovers you're throwing in that soup pot...

Chef: I'm making Moscow Soup! You know how to make Moscow Soup? It's easy: whatever you've got on hand, goes in the pot!

Fun fact: ever had soup at a restaurant, and then made it at home but it didn't taste quite the same or as good? There's two main reasons:

  1. If it's a restaurant that actually makes their own soups (versus them being shipped in in a bag to be reheated), they're very likely using leftovers to make your soup. So unless you're using the exact same ingredients as the restaurant, it's not going to taste the same.

  2. The bigger reason being that they likely made the soup you're eating at least the day before it's served to you. This gives the ingredients of the soup time to marry, this is that "blend together" they're talking about. This takes time, regardless of what you're cooking, but it gives the ingredients the necessary time overnight to just... Become a better soup.

The leftovers they use have likely been marrying their flavors for a day or two before they're put into the soup, so all of that blended flavor deliciousness is going to blend even more in the soup.

It's crazy to think about those few years. Woodrow had a bad stroke, and Edith basically didn't allow anyone to disturb him. So they'd bring issues/bills/etc to her, and she would go in and "advise" the President, and then come out and relay his supposed response.

The closest we've ever come to actually having a woman President.

They can't vote for progressives if none are fielded by either party. That was the big draw of Trump: he's evil, but he's popular among his base, and he showed them he'll break all the rules to get things done during his first presidency. People see change with Trump. Not good change, at least, anyone who doesn't blindly support him views it as bad change.

But it's change. The DNC handicapped their only true progressive in 2016 and 2020 to shove corporate, centrist candidates down our throat to maintain the status quo. After 8+ years of nothing fundamentally changing for the average person and the DNC just re-running the 2016 playbook... People stayed home. They didn't see change in Harris' campaign, they saw "four more years of getting fucked over, but not Trump."

People can't vote for a progressive that doesn't exist. It has to come from the DNC first, and based on all of their excuses as to why it's everyone but themselves who are wrong since the election... I don't see it happening.

Oh shit or get off the pot, ffs.

So... Explain to me how continuing to support the genocide of 3 million West Bank Palestinian lives is caring about the lives of 3 million West Bank Palestinians? And remind me... What support were the Dems showing when, the day after the election, two congressional Democrats came out and said the DNC was too woke on trans issues.

So... Explain to me how the DNC immediately scapegoating the trans community after their abysmal loss due to their own failed campaign... Is showing that they care about American trans lives? Where in her, or any Democrats campaign, was their platform for enshrining LGBTQ+ equality into law? Huh, funnily enough, drag, none of them had one.

And then... Explain to me how the DNC and Biden refusing to let Ukraine use long-range American weapons inside of Russian territory for well over two years is showing care and concern for Ukrainian people? Or, why does Ukraine, who are fighting off a foreign invader, why do they have stipulations on how they can use American weapons, but Israel can just level hospital after hospital in Gaza and that's completely morally justified? At least Ukraine aims for strategic resource infrastructure and not apartment blocks and schools like Israel (who still is receiving Biden, and then de facto because she doesn't do anything against it, Harris, unconditional support from the Biden admin).

Lives you are so apathetic about, you can't even see them as different from any other statistic.

So you're completely fine with the 43,000 Palestinian civilians who have been killed at the hands of Biden and Harris administration, those are just a statistic that you're completely fine with because... They're worth losing because statistically there are more lives to save in your own country.

Wow, I had to look it up, but you're right drag... Someone choosing not to support a genocide is completely apathetic, but you, the one willing to trade Palestinian lives for American trans lives, you're the most empathetic person I've ever met. Literally the definition of empathy right here, folks!!! The embodiment of the fucking Buddha right here, kill as many Palestinians as needed, they're just collateral compared to Americans trans lives.

Again, the same lives the DNC threw under the bus the day after the election.

Good to see you're continuing to double down on your absurdity, drag, still can't find anyone to point the finger at besides non-voters? How many letters and phone calls have you made to your Democratic elected officials demanding they take more action against your morally just causes? I imagine none, since you seem more concerned with alienating and disenfranchising non-voters than you are actually fixing liberalism and the DNC as a whole.

[–] BlitzoTheOisSilent 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You're wasting your breath, drag is Lemmy's morally enlightened philosopher who somehow thinks non-voters are to blame for not choosing to support a genocide, but the DNC is completely blameless in their unconditional support of a fascist committing a genocide because Trump would commit it worse.

Drag'll likely respond and start insulting your intelligence, will probably call you a nazi fascist who wants drag and all of drag's friends dead, and then try to explain why not supporting genocide is significantly worse than supporting it.

All while acting like drag's the ooooooooonly one who understands how the world works, how morality works, how individual understandings of the world may vary from person to person to culture.

And if you write more than 4 sentences, drag will complain that you're long-winded and taking too many words to "be wrong." And that you're writing as much as you are because you "fail to understand what drag is saying."

In other words, drag let drag's fleeting popularity due to a post regarding drag's preferred pronouns give drag the impression that drag is morally and intellectually superior to those around drag.

Aka, drag is a joke, don't waste your breath arguing with Lemmy's most enlightened ~~fascism supporting liberal~~ cOmMuNiSt. 🙄

But he did his best, and that's all that matters at the end of the day. 🙄 God was I livid when he fucking said that.

I'm trans, and that's what bothers me the most about those two congressional Democrats coming out against trans athletes in sports. Parroting the "biological boys in girl's sports" line the right has been using for years now.

They were so comfortable saying it, that's what pisses me off the most. It shows me it's not ingrained in the party's platform, and we were just a token group to support when they thought we brought in enough votes. So they'd rather scapegoat us and try to court a minority of moderate Republicans that won't vote for them anyway.

It showed me we, trans people, don't matter to the DNC. Maybe we matter to the electorate of the DNC, but we don't matter to the DNC.
