We used to use virtual box on windows with an immutable hard disk to boot the environment with storage, for persistence, elsewhere (usb for example) if required. Just used standard ubuntu for the guest distro.

Once you shut down the VM the vhd reverts to as installed. It's a bit painful distributing the system but can be done.

You can prevent ordinary users messing with the immutable setting as well if that is a concern.

But only if its the woman who wants the divorce.... And then only if the man's income is above $1000000 otherwise they are poor and therefore should be in a labour camp/work for Amazon anyway. If they are same sex they go to the camp anyway.

Not sure if /s is appropriate cos I am a "right ponder" and don't know how close to the truth I am...

Is VSS even a backup?

Nope, not even close.

I thought it just copies old revisions of files into that shadow area

It just copies the deltas...

Backups can use vss to get a static image of the volume (deltas are written to the shadow area, which isn't backed up, whilst the backup is running) it's a little different for vhdx files on VMs but basically the same.

It's magic.... And often means that I don't have to restore lost files from backup, just view the old versions and grab a copy from there.

No.... Wait.... :)

Not my problem... Whatever my SO/surviving descendants want is good by me.

True British reserve there... Glad you held back, wot?!

BTW for those who aren't British, the above is a message agreeing whole heartedly with the chap expressing disdain for the Daily Fail.

Some people do.... Synaesthesia

it's because you guys speak British, not English!

Fighting talk, sirrah! Fighting talk.... But yes, I guess.

British English has been described as three languages dressed up in a trenchcoat that go around mugging other languages in dark alleys and stealing the best bits...

I would ask "why did you left ponders choose to change the pronunciation to zee?" - though given many USAian pronunciations are, apparently, closer to Elizabethan English than the current UK sounds I wouldn't like to guess which came first the zed or the zee....

I think "first lady" is referring to the absence of Meliana and omnipresence of Musk at Trump's side rather than saying Musk is/identifies as female.

Still, as you say, an unwise choice of words because the phrase can be taken a couple of/a few ways.

Yeh cheese as cheeze is an odd one - especially considering the z is "zed" not "zee"... I guess cheese is where the idea of "zee" came from?

Guys

Voyager native app on Android.

Anyone else got an issue when scrolling through a thread the rendering flicks all over the place?

It's random and I can't think of a way to screenshot it. It's like the replies get drawn in one position then jump to where they should be. Sometimes, if I catch it right, sliding up and down with my finger flashes the post/comment on and off...

Like I say, hard to describe properly.

Feature request? (self.voyagerapp)
submitted 1 year ago by BenM2023 to c/voyagerapp

Guys

Dunno if I am missing something, but I notice that many times a post is cross posted to many communities, resulting in the All feed being full (well not really full but you know what I mean) of what are, effectively, reposts...

Does voyager have a "hide posts with the same title in different communities" setting somewhere or is that a feature request?

Guys

We have an XYZ DaVinci 1.0 Pro, connected by USB to a Windows 10 PC (latest updates etc.)

The drivers are all correctly installed (both cameras show up in device manager, the printer shows up in device manager as both a printer and a USB-COM3 device).

The printer has Firmware 1.2.3 installed (as recommended by XYZ.... not sure if that's a good thing)

  • XYZ Printing does not detect the printer as online;
  • Cura does not detect the printer as online;
  • Pronterface does not detect the printer as online;
  • In a massive turn-up for the books.... Microsoft 3d Builder does see the printer on line and will start a print.

In device manager the com port seems to be set at 9600,8,n,1. Changing this to (say) 115200 breaks printing in 3d Builder. Changing Pronterface to use 9600 baud makes no difference to connecting to the printer.

I have changed the USB lead, tried different ports on the PC yadda yadda yadda but no change at all - only Microsoft 3d Builder will see the printer online and print.

Anyone got any idea at all why everything except Microsoft 3d Builder can't see the printer?

Bury Hill by John Galsworthy

To this green hill a something dream-like clings, Where day by day the little blunt sheep graze, Threading the tussocks and the toadstool rings, Nosing the barrows of the olden days.

An air drifts here that's sweet of sea and grass, And down the combe-side living colour glows; Spring, Summer, Fall, the chasing seasons pass To Winter, even lovelier than those.

The dream is deep today, when all that's far Of wandering water and of darkling wood, Of weald and ghost-like Down combinèd are In haze below this hill where God has stood.

Here I, too, stand until the light is gone, And feed my wonder, while the sheep graze on.
