It’s all greed. It’s been a while since this was discussed as far as I know, but wasn’t there talk about making Internet service into a utility and be regulated like the power and water companies? There should be a flat fee and that’s it. None of this tiered or capped bullshit. It’s alllllllll pure insatiable greed.

As has happened a thousand times. The criminal justice system needs to be perceived as effective to the masses, so they will often use a patsy.

Truth is that killing someone and getting away with it is not too difficult if you’re very smart and plan it well.

So, I have an old school iPod I got from someone it’s sweet and I want to put my music on it. Is there a decent app in Linux that will be able to do the sync of music? Or is it able to be just copied to like an external drive?

Hi all, I just wanted to say hello. I’m an adult and came to realize in the past few years only that I’m probably on the spectrum given some of my tendencies. When I was a kid there was no label autism other than the most extreme cases. As it turns out, my son - late teens - is on the spectrum and also has ADHD. He struggles with a variety of aspects but he’s also strong and insightful. He learns about himself more all the time, and I also have the benefit of being able to relate to some of his challenges.

So I just thought I’d say hi; very glad to have discovered this community.

I’m around most of the time to comment or converse.

Best wishes to everyone, and I’m hoping to have some rewarding conversations in the future.

WINE / PlayOnLinux (self.linux)

Hello all, In a previous installation I was able to successfully use PlayOnLinux to run a few Windows apps. My most recent system, though, is not liking it. Currently on Kubuntu 24.04

WINE is present and up to date. However, when I tried to install PON from either Discover, or using APT, the app crashes immediately. I never even get to the GUI. I read on the page for the app in Discover, numerous others complain about this exact problem.

Anyone know about this and how to resolve it?

I included the link to the app's website because there are numerous versions and it states you need to use the correct one. I don't know what those different variables mean, so could someone please advise? (deb files, Cosmic, Trusty, Bionic, Xenial.... etc. I don't understand these).

Yeah, so I have a notebook with Kubuntu 24.04.
I have Night Control setup for warmer color 8:00PM-8:00AM

Oftentimes I go to the computer to do something and I see it is in the wrong mode. I’ve not seen any pattern it’s just arbitrarily not switching over.

My lid close action is just turn off screen; no sleep mode (problems). So usually I am opening the lid and start to use the machine and then notice this.

Is this a known issue? Or does anyone else have this problem?

Does anyone know of a Linux-based or playable via emulator/wine of the NES Rygar? (self.retrogaming)

I only ever played Rygar a little one summer but I remember it very fondly. I’d love to play it on my Linux laptop if possible. I saw on wiki there was an Android port at some point - I’d ideally like the NES incarnation.
