Try Mad Games Tycoon 2 if you like Game Dev Tycoon, it's a far more fleshed out (and involved) version of GDT.

The first Mad Games Tycoon is solid too. 2nd one is an evolution of the 1st one.

There is also MMORPG Tycoon 2, which is comparable but actually does everything in 3D. It's a fun game if the concept sounds appealing. The biggest issue is that it has been in early access for over 4 years (albeit with a relatively consistent update cadence).

Cities in Motion 1, while it's not my most played tycoon game, it's one of those game I keep coming back to.

I love the euro-focused scenarios and time-period selection. The visuals have their own distinct style. The game is also pretty hard and requires you to think about the core model of the game (which is a decent approximation of reality.

Runner-up: SimTower/YootTower, one first tycoon and gaming experiences. Gameplay still holds up very well even 30 years later. I wish there was remaster. We already have re-makes with games like Project Highrise and Mad Tower Tycoon.

To be fair the "most stable release yet" label is applied to almost every patch by star citizen fans.

Just take a look at any reddit thread (let alone the fan forum) and for every patch you having something along the lines of "perfectly stable" or "best AI I've ever encountered" or "a monumental achievement".

And yet you have threads like this one:

There is a reason to be skeptical of "most stable release yet" style proclamations.

Interesting typo.

They would rather invest in AI hardware data centres to generate shitty AI slop movies with faux-cyberpunk aesthetic.

It seems the model of subsidized hardware is coming to an end.

New semiconductor fab nodes are becoming more and more expensive. And on the flip side improvements in graphics are becoming more computationally difficult while being less substantial compared to earlier console generations.

PC gaming has also somewhat revitalised over the past ~10 years and more and more PCs are benefiting from "good enough" iGPUs (10 years ago even top iGPUs could not be used for even more moderately demanding games).

Good catch! Cheers!

Incremental.social clearly has federation issues. Their contact form also doesn't work.

I occasionally cross-post relevant content and sometimes I can't see my own posts. .

Admin said he is working on it (I created a thread stating that the contact form didn't work and there were issues with federation).

Tycoon community seems to have hit a brick wall in terms of new subscribers. User engagement is still low, but that's to be expected.

I think that the total threadiverse size (45K MAU) essentially puts a limit for such a relatively niche gaming community.

I play a lot of tycoon/economic strategy games and Monopoly Tycoon is unique. There are some similar games, but something about their approach made it stand out even to this day.
