Over the past week I've been posting and commenting. Some of these just appear to vanish, others seem to be voted up by the entire federated community.

I also see mismatched vote and comment counts across posts authored by me and others.

Is this an instance issue here, a wider lemmy issue, or a PEBCAK (Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard) issue?

If anyone here has had an issue with seeing the correct vote count or even comments while viewing other instances from lemmy.radio, it seems there is a bug that is "fixed" in 0.18 rc6.

I'm not sure when the official 0.18 release will be, but if anyone is having a bad time using our instance and seeing this issue, maybe we can test 0.18 rc6 this weekend while everyone is field daying.

I"m seeing this bug for sure. Is this "blocking" for anyone?

Be aware that Lemmy federation, comments and postings going from instance to instance, is having serious reliability problems.

There also seems to be no known tool to measure or fix these problems. I suspect many site operators are unaware of the extent of the problem and don't realize that comments and postings are not copying from server to server.

Part of the growing pains of a complex app.

Another symptom of the problem is 'pending' when you join a remote community and it never changes to 'joined'. This is a sign that your home Lemmy instance isn't communicating properly with the other Lemmy isnstance.
