There is a bigot in the town of Saint Denis whom you can beat to death in front of a cop and absolutely nobody will bat an eye at you.
Fire Memes for Traitor-Haters
Where we meme (joking in tone and detail, serious in sentiment) about General Sherman, the Civil War, and how the secesh traitors had it coming.
That's the eugenics guy right?
Yep
You can also lasso him and drag him around on your Roach
Now that's some fantasy fulfillment.
Maybe I should try this game
The story is one of the best I've seen presented in a game. It takes into consideration the kind of wandering nature of how you play videogames and tells a stroy through the enviroment really well. After major events in the main character's journey parts of the map open and change in subtle but fun ways too, the background chatter of crowd NPCs even changes. Plus just constantly walking up to little vinette storys happening set up all over and in random spots was very neat.
The solo game is such a good time. I spent so many hours just wandering around the map, hunting animals and gathering herbs. Occasionally riding my trusty steed back into town to change my outfit or get into a gun fight. Super immersive, great story, the map
design and lack of load screens; IMO it was a highpoint in gaming, easily 9/10 if not a perfect 10.
I haven't played it personally because of the price (though it's on sale at the moment, it looks like), but I hear it's good.
I loved my first playthrough when I was riding around in the woods late at night and heard chanting and went to investigate and saw a bunch of the white robed clowns and just got to fucking obliterate them all while Aurther cursed them out. Was incredibly satisfying. It was also incredibly satisfying when the former slave hunter was moaning about how he can't hunt slaves anymore and I shot him in the face and my honor bar rose. I also almost pissed myself when I was riding through the woods up north at night in the fog and a disembodied women's voice started whispering in my headset saying that she wanted to go home, asking for help, and making accusations about something. It was only in about a 20 Sq ft radius, if I rode out of it the voice stopped and if I went back into it the voice started again, but there was no one there. What a tiny (and terrifying) detail. The fog blew away and the voice stopped. The whole game is filled with tiny details and hidden stuff like that so you can stick to the story or just spend hours exploring.
It's worth it.
I’d argue it’s one of the best games ever created on Gods green Earth.
It's boring as fuck and if you don't complete the missions the way the game wants you to, you fail.
That’s pure folly and you know it!
Criticism helps. I never trust any game that has nothing but praise.
The open world was cool. The gameplay and mission structure were bad.
Always felt strange to have a super progressive group in an era/region where everyone hated Indians, Blacks, Women, etc.
They existed though! For example, during the first era of the KKK, the Knights of Labor existed and the only restriction on membership was that you couldn't be a banker, politician, or lawyer. Black members were welcomed from the start, Mother Jones learned to organize with them too.
you couldn’t be a banker, politician, or lawyer.
Can we bring this back, but for like every facet of society?
Be careful with what you wish for, you might get exactly what you want.
I’ll wish extra hard.
Why don't we hear about them more?
Because they had a big part to play in the start of the organized labor movement. Most textbooks have an interest in making history seem like today was an inevitable outcome instead of long and difficult struggles of the working class
I mean all they have is themself so they aren't in a position to kick Lenny out of their group due to his colour for example. Also I have realised, that spending time with someone of a certain group usually makes you less bigotred towards them
It made sense. Dutch recruited followers, and when you’re an outlaw gang more or less just trying to survive, you’re not going to be picky about race or gender. And when you’re a desperate on-your-own looking to join this small traveling community of accidentally diverse people, you don’t build prejudices that you might have if you already had a community of your own. They wouldn’t have had it ingrained enough to overcome the desire to join a group, and any prejudice they may already have would be whittled away by actually interacting with the people they’re supposed to hate.
I feel like censoring something like this takes away from the mockery of it
On one hand, I agree that it loses something with 'moron', but I censored it because I'm trying to reduce my usage and sharing of material which uses the term 'retard'. It's not the mid-2000s anymore, and a little avoidance of terms historically used very harshly towards those with mental disabilities is no great sacrifice, but brings comfort to some, especially those with loved ones who have mental disabilities.
Ironically moron also was a word for mental disability, but it's old enough that it's not problematic to most people.
I’m someone making a conscious effort to use it less also, maybe I’m wrong, I often am, but I don’t think it’s the worst thing showing that these are the kind of people still saying it. I dunno
