Personally I’ve been trying out a bunch of iOS apps, but have been spending the most time on Memmy.

Wefwef has been easing my Apollo withdrawals.

Coming from Apollo, I have personally been enjoying wefwef.

Same. The transition has been seamless with the UI. Very familiar. Although I find myself swapped to Lemmy to check it out. They have been Lightning fast with the updates

Same here--wefwef is amazingly solid for such an early product.

If Sync for Lemmy gets off the ground and is anywhere near as good as the Reddit version, I'll probably switch to that since it was easily my most used Android app before Reddit lost its mind.

Does the PWA shortcut auto-updates or to use a new version I have to delete the shortcut and create it again?

[–] DeadlineX 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

There’s a settings tab with a β€œCheck for updates” section that will automatically notify you of new versions, and then you can update without recreating the widget.

No problem! I’ve found wefwef to be very similar to Apollo so far. I have issues loading posts and comments some times, but I’m pretty sure it’s just lemmy.world having overloaded server issues with all the new migrators from Reddit.

Connect for Lemmy on Android. Reminds me pretty much of RIF.

[–] Landi 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Thanks for the hint. Used Sync before and Connect is similar to it. πŸ‘

[–] 098qwelkjzxc 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Yeah, I'm using Connect for now because it feels really similar to Sync, at least until Sync for Lemmy comes out. Just wish it had gestures πŸ˜”

EDIT: Welp I just found out Connect sucks, guess I'm using Jerboa now lmao https://lemmy.world/post/953025

[–] morphballganon 2 points 2 years ago

I'm using connect. Only gripe so far is there's no apparent "hide post" button

Also I'm not sure if "block user" is the same as Sync's "filter user" or something else

[–] Agent_Dudeface 2 points 2 years ago

Seconded, for the same reason.

[–] Zoldyck 2 points 2 years ago

Same. It's pretty decent.

[–] BlueDepth9279 7 points 2 years ago

Mostly Memmy and Mlem. They’re on different development cycles, memmy has been releasing updates about every day while Mlem has been releasing updates maybe once a week. Both are solid given the maturity of Lemmy.

[–] crunchypotat77 6 points 2 years ago

I tried mlem, memmy, and wefwef.

Mlem is missing quite some features at this point. Wefwef is browser only.

So I've been using memmy for the most part. It's good.

I'm on wefwef.app now. I tried Jerboa first and then Connect for Lemmy. I liked Connect more than Jerboa but wefwef was most like my Infinity setup.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Same for me. Started with Jerboa then went to Connect, then WefWef. I still go back and forth between the last two, but I'm starting to use WefWef more.

[–] saltesc 5 points 2 years ago

Thunder, LiftOff, Wefwef, Connect; in that order. I find I'm using Thunder more and more. I think the pros and cons are balanced so it's more a personal preference. I'm former RIF.

Boost for Lemmy is coming - You can register your interest on the Play Store.

[–] badwolf 3 points 2 years ago

Currently Jerboa, but once Boost for Lemmy launches I'll switch to that

Liftoff on Android. Web browser on iOS.

Liftoff let's you search for keywords by Community, Comments, Users, or Posts. That feature alone is golden and no other app does this.

Coming from RIF this is my personal ranking:

  1. wefweb.app. Very clean design, works well and smooth experience. Overall the best implementation so far.

  2. Connect/Lift (tied). Both are solid, I prefer connect sidebar and options but I prefer the design of the posts and comments on Lift. When the comments stack in Connect it looks awful IMO.

  3. Jerboa. As a first option it was good but after so many timeouts, other design issues and multiple errors I kinda gave up on the app. After its polished I'll give it another try.

[–] Onyxonblack 1 points 2 years ago

This would be my ranking and assessment as well. The only thing hampering Wefwef, for me right now at least, is that all saving/bookmarking is broken at the moment. I'm sure it'll get fixed, but that's kinda a big deal. Other than that, it's great!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Started with wefwef, but it often lags when I try to type a comment or navigate back, so I installed multiple apps for Lemmy until I settled in with Connect, since it felt neat and optimised.

[–] Poeticbiscuit 2 points 2 years ago

I'm on Android and I'm currently using Connect for Lemmy. Seems good for now. Previously used Jerboa but for some reason I had issues with scrolling and connecting.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

I use connect for lemmy currently but i got jeobra downloaded as well , depending on how performance/feature goes in the next months i will decide what i like more

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Jerboa. I like what it has going on coming from RIF, comment navigation is pretty good, but it's still very buggy (often fails to refresh though that might be related to my instance more than the app, also could do with more graceful error handling) and missing a few key settings I'd like to see implemented - show instance name next to user/community names, disable left swipe to go back to post list (which I trigger on accident all the time). Hopefully the dev continues to work on it and smooth out some rough edges.

Connect, Jerboa

Memmy and Thunder! Between the two I’m able to get all the features I’m interested in. I feel that Thunder’s search is better, and I like the ease of account switching.

Memmy has provided me the smoothest experience browsing so far.

[–] mokoshark69 1 points 2 years ago

I use thunder and liftoff

Jerboa here, it's a bit buggy atm but this app has the style I like best

I trade off between memmy and wefwef

[–] Noctis 1 points 2 years ago

So far using Liftoff, it's nice. Once sync hits I'll move there likely
