The Scottish Liberal Democrat leader has apologised after dialling in remotely to cast a vote at Holyrood from outside the parliament’s bar.

Alex Cole-Hamilton used his mobile phone to raise a point of order by video call, stating he would have voted against a disabled rights bill proposed by Labour’s Pam Duncan-Glancy.

But his appearance provoked jeers and laughter from other MSPs after they spotted he was outside the Scottish Parliament bar, less than a two-minute walk away from the main chamber.

Mr Cole-Hamilton appeared on parliament monitors at the front of the chamber with his shirt partially unbuttoned as he repeatedly touched his hair and apologised to Liam McArthur, the deputy presiding officer.

Not often I link to the Torygraph, but this one too funny. ACH being in parliament is a joke, the list in Holyrood is a mockery

Honestly dialing in from a pub is kinda stupid, kinds funny, but it being the pub IN Parliament is fucking hilarious, what a lazy cunt.

This is normal european behavior. Why would he be jeered?

Was it an optional vote? Did he fuck up his vote?

If no I couldn't give two shits. Just more shit to be angry about.

You don't think it's notable that a leader of a political party was in the pub during a vote?

Leader and party are both debatable

If it was anywhere else. But I'm honestly surprised they don't just hold Scottish parliament in a pub
