but being under 25, he is not permitted to drive with more than one passenger under the age of 21 between 11pm and 5am

What an oddly specific driving law

Probably designed to stop groups of teenage friends dying together.

Yeah, except that in my experience, you end up with a group of teenage friends with two cars, which means a race :/

Also doubles the requirements for designated drivers, which increases the risks that someone decides "Im not that drunk".

I broke the 2 passenger limit a couple of times on my Ps, it never made sense when responsibly driving two friends to the local trainstation. I just took the P plates down :/

It's something like that and the one passenger rule is because they couldn't ban it altogether since some are going to work or coming home during those hours from what I remember.

Don't worry, it's apparently fine if it's family. Even more specific

Hopefully the new church got their organ in time. 🤞

I usually find this sort of sensational reporting to be abhorrent; P platers are an easy target for the media.

However, a 3 month suspension of licence seems disproportionate for the multiple offences.

“Disproportionate” how? Even though the word can technically be used to describe an overreaction or an underreaction, I’ve almost always seen it used in cases of overreaction. I think you’re saying that a three-month suspension seems like an underreaction, though.

I meant it as an underreaction.

I don't agree with aggressive punishments beyond reasonable but 3 months seems ludicrously low and not enough in isolation or otherwise for the offences at hand.
