Sync for Lemmy

I've used Infinity. Then I stopped using reddit and now I wait for sync for lemmy

My story is that I've used Relay for Reddit exclusively for years and years. But now with everything, and Sync for Lemmy on the horizon, I'm looking forward to SfL.

I was using Slide for Reddit but the app wasn’t being updated for couple of months and things started to broke up.

Tried a lot of other clients and sync fits right in for me, the beta at that time was even better.

I switched to Sync after Reddit purchased Alien Blue. I used the free version for a while. Eventually I purchased the Pro version then a short while after that purchased the Ultimate version. I got way more than my money's worth in that app considering Reddit was about 60% of my phone use.

I switched from ios to android 3 years ago. I searched for apollo replacements and sync popuped up. One thing I found intersting with sync is it was the only 3rd party app (aside from apollo) that had push notifications.

I don't massively remember, it was around 2012 and I had a few Reddit clients, Reddit is fun was another one.. I just eventually settled on sync.. my upgrade to pro was in 2013.

I've bought 3 copies of Sync Pro, 3 copies of Sync Dev and 2 copies of Sync Ultra over the years. Will buy Sync Dev Pro Ultra for Lemmy as soon as it's available :D

Was using IOS and Alien Blue before I switched to Android. Couldn’t find a decent app until I tried sync and it’s been my favorite Reddit app ever since

I've had it for years, I don't even know when at this point.

It must have been my most-used app week after week, year after year, phone after phone.

That dev will never see this post, and I'm just one person, but that app made my mundane little life demonstrably better. A little bit better each day.

tried a few but stuck w/ sync due to biometric account locking. my kids don't need to see my posts accidentally while they're taking 100 selfies :)

Used reddit app and hated it, saw a comment about Sync on my lunch break and did some investigation. Paid my dues and never looked back!

My journey is a long one. So many years ago I tried Sync (much different than the more recent versions today) and I didn't like it to be honest.

I ended up switching to Relay and I used Relay for many years.

After a while, Relay became quite stale after years and years of little change in the interface, so I branched out and used Joey, Boost, and Infinity off-and-on.

I finally re-tried Sync in ~2016 and fell in love with the new(er) versions and didn't look back since.

I paid for multiple versions over the years. Latest version on my mobile was "sync dev" and I had paid for ultimate.

You'll be missed. So many hours of use.

I used Boost for Reddit since my migration from iOS to Android (I might have checked others like Now, Relay and RIF, but don't remember entirely) for years, but you know how some AOSP roms and MIUI handle badly the RAM management, so even when I loved Boost it became tiring to keep losing content (and for some reason the app initial load was way slow, even slower than official Reddit app) because I opened Telegram or Discord.

That's why after all those years I decided to check again the Android apps, I mean, I'm talking about A10 to A13, so Material You was a thing now, and I didn't need to look further because Sync catched my attention right away... Which seems interesting because seems that I got it after a big UI change that seems like not everyone liked 😅

Needless to say Sync to this date handles amazing in the background, and I don't know why, that's like the best feature nobody talks about of it!

Started out in reddit around 2015. Back then there wasn't an official reddit app.
Found out Baconreader and stuck with it for years.
Then found out Sync and noticed it was an improvement in all areas.
It was perfect.

I hopped apps frequently starting with Relay, then Baconreader, RIF, Narwhal, Boost, Slide, and finally Sync.

I used Boost for a fairly long time but I wanted a new experience and I downloaded Slide. Disliked the app almost immediately and reverted back to Boost. After some time, I installed Sync as it was the only app I hadn't used for reddit.

Instantly fell in love with it. I was treated to the new design and I loved it. Stayed with Sync until Spez decided to fuck us all. And now, we're here.

I was big into custom ROMs 10 years ago (I had a Nexus 4 at the time) and loved trying beta software. That's when I found out Laurence was working on a big redesign. I think it was Holo back then? That's when I bought the Dev version and I haven't used another app since.

When I got my first smartphone with a reasonably large screen I started using Reddit apps. I pretty much tried them all and eventually settled on Sync. I've been using that exclusively for almost ten years now. So now I just hope we'll get a kbin/lemmy Version of Sync soon. I'll be happy to buy it again.

A friend recommended Reddit, I signed up in 2012 but the interface was... uninspiring. Especially on mobile. Out of curiosity I tried Sync in 2013 because it was getting very good reviews, and immediately preferred it.

I've never been a heavy Reddit user, but did most of my usage through Sync. It was just better.

Somewhat ironically I've recently been thinking about doing more in some Reddit communities, but the awful behaviour of Reddit means that won't happen now. So I'm really looking forward to seeing Sync for Lemmy so that I can pursue those goals here in comfort and style! 😉

Super keen on sync, I enjoy all the customisations you could do to the cards and comment layout, along with the gestures. Was good while it lasted

I used to use baconreader but I kept hearing good things about sync so I decided to try it out, I loved the UI and the customization then immediately switched to the pro version, It's my most used app on my phone for years and I can't imagine browsing reddit on mobile without it especially since the official reddit app is total garbage.

My Reddit profile is 15 years old, so I've been around for quite a while. At that time, I don't believe there really was any real alternatives to browsing on a PC.

After some time just using vanilla, I discovered I could make my browsing experience better by using RES, and that's what I'd use until BaconReader became a thing. I bought the pro version of BR in 2011.

When more third party apps started to hit the scene, I think I was a bit stubborn at first, and didn't want to trade out BaconReader. But after a while, I caved and decided to give the alternatives a try. I bought both Reddita, Relay for Reddit and RIF is Fun, in 2012. I believe I mostly used RIF for a couple of years.

Sync Pro was bought on June 7th 2014, and I haven't used anything else since. It's definately my most used app of all time, and it's strange to think that it was 9 years almost to the day from my initial purchase till I uninstalled it from my phone and decided to quit Reddit.

Can't wait to get my hands on Sync for Lemmy, and will definately purchase it at once, as soon as I'm able.

My first Reddit client was Baconreader. I can't remember why I stopped using it, probably because it had some limitations or other. I used RIF for a while, because they were going ad-free for Reddit Gold users. Didn't renew my Reddit Gold one day. Luckily there was a lot of hype going on around this newcomer called Sync, so I got it Sync Pro and was happy ever since. ...Until this day I guess, but that's not Sync's fault.

I've had sync so long I can't even remember redditing without it. My late husband was a tech guy and when we met in college he introduced me to Reddit and recommended the app and bought the pro version of it. Been a daily user for at least 10 years and can't wait to see Sync for Lemmy!

Used it since early highschool, then got really invested with the app a few years back, joined the discord and became a mod on the official Subreddit. Now I'm just head waiting for our Lord LJ to release Sync for Lemmy 😉

I bought the remove ads feature back in June 2016 for $3.69...this has been the most used app and such a small price. Damn I will miss this app!

Mine is fairly similar. I had been using BaconReader for a while, but was having some persistent issues with it that weren't being patched out (I don't remember what the issues were. This must have been around ten years ago). I heard Sync mentioned as a good reddit client, so I tried it out and promptly dropped BaconReader.

I don't know how long I used Sync with ads, but I know from the receipt that I bought the ad-free version in 2017.

I used to use AlienBlue on my iPod touch way back in the day haha. Eventually got an Android phone and tried out a couple of apps. I think I tried baconreader and RIF along with Sync. I just liked Sync a bit better and have been using it since probably 2014 or so.

I was looking for a Reddit client for a long time. Tried searching all over Reddit and got many recommendations. Sync and Boost were the most suggested one but still I was confused. I decided to install all of them and compared the features, UI, Design myself. In the the end it was still between Sync and Boost but Sync won me over by having material design. I bought the pro version.

Signed up for a reddit account many years back. The official app was so bad, I uninstalled it after less than a week, and went with the browser instead.

Later on, some friends mentioned reddit and I asked what app they used. They recommended Sync, and that has been my go-to app for reddit ever since.

I owned a Sync license but only used it once, didn't like the feel. I ended up buying Boost, then moved on from that to Relay which ended up being my forever home.

I used to use the official Reddit app back in 2019. Then one day, I was watching MKBHD's What's On My Phone video where he showed Relay for Reddit. I started used Relay from then on. Was very impressed with Relay, paid for the pro version as well.

I thought of trying out all the clients to see if there was something better. Saw Sync being recommended on random discussions on r/AndroidApps. Gave it a try. It was good, but I was too used to Relay to make the switch. Read about the beta program for Sync (I think it was v21), gave it a go. It took some getting used to, but it was perfect for me, switched to Sync full time. I decided that I'll buy the pro version one day (I was kinda broke :[ ).

Stuck with Sync since then. Purchased the Pro version on 7th April 2023 (had landed a well-paying job a few months prior :] ). Then a month later all the API shenanigans happened :(. But I don't regret the purchase one bit and I will buy the Pro version again once Sync for Lemmy comes out.

When I got my new job I switched to using my phone for reddit and bought sync at some point over a decade ago. Must've used baconreader for 1 year then switched.

I started with Alien Blue on the iPhone, and eventually that was killed and I switched to Apollo. Eventually I tore myself from the iOS ecosystem with the Pixel 3 Pro but couldn't find a decent enough reddit client on Android.

I started begrudgingly using Baconreader (I don't think it was actually all that bad in hindsight, but not what I was looking for after Apollo) until I read a comment on Reddit somewhere about Sync. I tried the free version and liked it, so I bought Sync Pro and never looked back.

I can't stand Reddit's UI direction in both the web app and the mobile application, and only ever used old.reddit + RES along side Sync Pro on the go. Occasionally I would use Apollo on my iPad, but it always felt like a second rate experience to what I was used to on Android. There were some neat clients that did things like emulating TikTok/Instagram that I would occasionally use, but I never stuck to them.

Way back when, I thought I'll check out what this new thing called Reddit is. Went to play store and typed Reddit, clicked on probably the top result and downloaded Sync. Since then that has been Reddit for me, apart from when I googled something on my pc and the result came on Reddit. I was shocked to see how shitty the website looked...
