Karen Gillan and Hugh Bonneville have been cast in 'Douglas Is Cancelled,' a cancel culture dramedy from 'Doctor Who' scribe Stephen Moffatt.

Stephen Moffat making fun of cancel culture, what could possibly go wrong?

Ugh.. love Karen Gillian, like Hugh Bonneville, hate Stephen Moffatt - so easy round of Kiss, Marry, Kill!

Have been an admirer of Moffatt's work since Press Gang, so will definitely check this out.

I really like Karen gillan, but this has a very poor chance of landing.

I think it could technically be pulled off, but cancel culture is still so pervasive and the darker parts of it have been so harmful for so long that if the show tries to show the absurd or comedic components of cancel culture, it'll come off offensive as not addressing cancel culture, and then if it does address rape and manipulations like that, then it'll be seen as glorifying the horrible parts of cancel culture.

And Steven moffat writes scenes around how girls are crazy or emotional in Doctor who and how women must dependent on males because of their histrionic tendencies, so I don't know if he has the objectivity or sensibilities to write a comedic yet meaningful story about cancel culture without being dismissive.

But look at how much I've already written about the show. Can't say I'm not interested.
