Question, Georgia apparently has an ok-ish military in the wake of the original invasion, why haven't they launched a campaign to knock the Russians out while Putin's tied down in Ukraine?

From what I've heard they want NATO and EU membership too, and being right next to Turkey means their position is pretty defensible in an article 5 scenario.

"It's complicated", is the short answer. I am somewhat out of touch with the political situation there, unfortunately. I also understand that they want NATO and EU membership as well.

Their government is (was?) backed by a Russian oligarch. This makes it difficult to completely break free of Russian influence in that regard. Their prime minister is also intent on keeping up a working relationship with Moscow as well. While it would probably be political suicide for him to be "pro" Russia, being Russia "friendly" could be acceptable if it is seen as avoiding war.

Still, it would be an awesome time for them to take back any annexed territory. What's left of Wagner is mostly in Africa and Russia is still visible in Syria. Combine that with the the war in Ukraine and Russia is not in a good spot.

For one, Georgia is a very small country. Their army might be well funded but it isn’t large. They would likely not be able to win a campaign against Russia even now
