Developer of Connect here. Congratulations on the launch and Liftoff looks great!

[–] mykl 3 points 1 year ago

Thanks. I’d not heard of Connect before, but it’s so exciting to see so many other great apps under development. It will keep us all on our toes!

Was having trouble figuring out how to collapse comments... Finally stumbled on pressing and holding. Maybe this will help someone else using Liftoff.

[–] mykl 17 points 1 year ago (5 children)

We're making it a simple tap in the next release so don't get too set on the long press :-)

[–] jmpavlec 4 points 1 year ago

Great! Was driving me nuts πŸ˜…. Awesome work, loving the app so far.

After downloading it and using all afternoon. Love it my only comment on the UX

  • lines between cards on the dark amyloid theam.

Thats it. Otherwise it is pretty nifty.

I cannot comment on a lot of stuff i can with jerboa for some reason. It throws "you are not logged in there"

The link works for me, but for some reason I can't find it when I search for it in the Play Store? I tried "liftoff", "liftoff!" and "liftoff Lemmy"...

This is a pretty nice app! I especially like that it shows me content from multiple Lemmy instances, without my home instance needing to federate with them!

I have some feedback, though: when I see content from lemmy.ml, the app should use my lemmy.world account to vote and comment, as if I were viewing that instance through lemmy.world. It really defeats the purpose of federation if I can't use the same account, after all.

I love that the screenshots are of the poop post

[–] orbit 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I've got it installed via github but it doesn't show up in the search in the playstore for me

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago (2 children)

The app looks great but I am finding that I am unable to participate in discussions on instances that I am not logged in on. Am I doing something wrong?

[–] mykl 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

Check the feed dropdown at the top of the page. If you're using [email protected] you should be able to interact with everything you see. Using the everything feed or any other instance feed may well show you stuff you can't interact with.

I love it so far, thanks for your hard work making the migration from Reddit easier.

One question, Im trying to send my friend a link to am article a post is looking to. The share button exports the lemmy link and not the actual article. If i click open in browser, it opens the federated instance hosting the article (kbin in this case) and not my browser, so i still have no way to copy the link right to the article. Any ideas.

Again, thank you

Signing in to first account only let me use email not username (lemmy.world) second account attempt to add (beehaw) produced an error. Android, Google pixel 6 pro. Didn't really want to post here in your launch post but couldn't find a place to enter bugs.

[–] cardinal 7 points 1 year ago

I think beehaw is having issues

[–] RomanRoy 8 points 1 year ago

Really nice, but I'm wondering about some choices

Why "everything" exists?

I thought All meant that, while Local meant your instance only and Subscribed is whatever you are subscribed to.

Also, this seems to lead to some issues interacting with other instances overall. I can't subscribe to an instance while looking at everything, even tho it is federated to mine.

I can see why the devs did it this way Maybe organization and all? But is it not defeating the purpose of the Fediverse?

Thank you for the AMOLED black πŸ–€

WE HAVE LIFTOFF!!!
Got to get that low hanging fruit.

[–] ghariksforge 7 points 1 year ago

What about Fdroid?

[–] unphazed 6 points 1 year ago

Might want to have the app autoselect some form of instance/community. I watched the loading circle for a minute before I started clicking around and selected communities to see it did in fact work.

[–] nostalgicgamerz 5 points 1 year ago

Now we wait for IOS approval….

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Good job, the more apps the better!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Excited to see more apps being developed for Lemmy.

[–] mada_uw 5 points 1 year ago

Ohh now we're talking. Have tried some of the different apps avalible for Android but this one feels like it, really like the ui. It crash for me when I try to read posts with alot of comments (yes I'm really trying to read that poop-post) Using a old phone with a older os so very likely that's why it's not working. Anyone experiencing the same? Or is really time for me to get a new phone?

[–] itadakimasu 5 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Scrolling is not smooth at all for me. Anyone else? Very jittery, low framerate. Pixel 7 pro.

[–] KrapKake 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Not a pixel but I notice this as well and seems to only happen when scrolling comments. Connect for lemmy was way worse about this and would get laggier until completely locking up. Infact none of the apps I've tried feel smooth when scrolling comments. Regardless...I think I like this app the best so far.

[–] itadakimasu 5 points 1 year ago

Hey I just discovered this Lemmy web app that's so very good so far! Better than any app I've tried.

Wefwef.app

I "installed" it as a PWA on my device and it's so good!

[–] skinless_corpus 4 points 1 year ago

Just downloaded to check it out!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Arg no kbin support? Does anyone know an app for kbin?

[–] itsAsin 5 points 1 year ago

i receive content from kbin.social in my Liftoff feed. it is federated thru lemmy.ml and when i try to open the kbin instance directly, the app displays the kbin page code.

so, somehow somewhere the kbin data is being parsed correctly, but Liftoff itself is not able to perform the task.
