The same music I listen to all the time. That is, anything from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

I expect your namesake would approve

I've been on a Ramones kick in the last couple of days

Some witchy occult rock, like: Year of the Cobra, Alunah, Bathsheba, Messa, Snakemother, Windhand, etc. Ocassionally very heavy but mostly just great background music to get some work done.

I've been going through some of my less listened to metal. Stuff like turisas, eluivite, etc.

So far my musical progression through today has been as follows: Zac Brown Band --> tavern music --> World of Warcraft soundtrack --> epic music playlist --> E.S. Posthumus. It's like I'm playing Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon over here.

E.S. Posthumus

Haven't listened to them in awhile! I should pick up an album of theirs at some point.

If you want to know, E.S. Posthumus consisted of the brothers Franz and Helmut Vonlichten. Franz passed away in 2010 and they haven't really released anything since. Helmut has, though, but I haven't listened to any of it yet.

Ramsey Lewis - Cecile. A really chill jazz piece. Goes nice in the morning with a tea or coffee.

I'm going through Kate Bush's discography, I didn't give everything a full listen after Stranger Things came out. I ended up ordering Never For Ever on vinyl.

Blink-182's new album, it's very good and makes me so nostalgic.

For the last week, I've been listening to classic country from the 60s to the early 80s. Anyone who defaults to "I don't like/listen to country" is missing out.

BUT... I started a new job today, so I needed something to both boost and calm myself. First thing I thought of was the intro to "Go" by Pearl Jam, so the first half of Vs was my soundtrack this morning.

I tend to be one of those that doesn't listen to country (but maybe some folk-esque stuff), who are some artists from then you've been listening to that you might suggest?

[–] AcornCarnage 2 points 1 year ago

I started out just wanting to listen to Tanya Tucker's "Delta Dawn" because that song is awesome. Listened to the whole album and really liked it. Then just listened to some playlists/radio stations with that as a seed.

The Highwaymen albums are good, but suffer from 80s production. That group is a killer starting point though. Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and...

I never even considered listening to Kris Kristofferson, but I've enjoyed his songs when they come up.

Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty & Loretta Lynn... And I'm still just scratching the surface.

I've had Cyber Stockholm Syndrome by Rina Sawayama stuck in my head lately, which is kind of fitting.

Can - Tago Mago.

I'm really late to the party so I keep thinking, "wow, that sounds like Radiohead/LCD Soundsystem/Aphex Twin/Happy Mondays/etc"

Huh five times August seems kinda looney tunes

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The world is kinda looney tunes.

I mean, the Government of Canada of all things decided to freeze people's bank accounts for participating in a peaceful protest that asked for a policy in to be implemented in March that the government ultimately implemented in October.

They were so threatened by this protest that I need to remind you were asking for a policy that was implemented that year anyway that they ended up invoking the descendant of the war measures act for only the second time ever.

The first time the descendant of the war measures act was invoked, it was because the FLQ terrorist group was committing acts of violence including kidnapping a provincial minister of labour and a diplomat to Britain. The second time it was invoked, it was because of a peaceful protest with bouncy castles and feeding the homeless.

Was mainly talking about the "vaccine injury awareness month" stuff on top of all the other COVID stuff. Seems a little off his rocker to keep non stop bitching about COVID mandates after they expired. Probably just doing it for easy money though.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That's fair, tbh.

I won't forget what happened, but life does go on.
