I’m recommending based on the list on your post. These are not really “new”, but are newer relative to your list and are going pretty steady:

  • Gojira
  • Haken
  • Animals As Leaders
  • Leprous
  • Jinjer

Came here to say Gojira as well.

I’d like to add Opeth to this list too. One of my favourite bands.

I liked leprous and jinjer... Thanks

Animals as leaders are my favorite to listen to when working out and building Magic decks. Those fellas tickle the ears.

(every music agent would love to know which bands will still be around in a decade)

[–] original2 2 points 1 year ago

But based on age most of who i listen to will stop

I'm mostly a punk and emo guy, but see you're more of a hard rock metal guy. I am a fan of Protest The Hero. I feel like it will be up your alley.

A few recommendations

Grand Magus is closer to the Ozzy style, especially if you're into the Black Sabbath stuff.

Cauldron are a really solid classic sounding heavy metal band.

I would love to recommend Scorpion Child But it's been a decade since they've released an album so I'm not sure what's going on, there.

Haunt are my favorite modern band who I think fit your style. These guys just keep getting better so far

Noticed the Saxon album cover; the lead singer's son also has a band.

They describe themselves as alternative rock/grunge/schizoid blues with the punk attitude of the 70s.

Check out Battle Beast. Strong 80s vibe, very theatrical. Their most recent album, circus of doom, is quite good imo, and they sound even better live. Highly recommend!

[–] original2 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They are pretty damn good thanks

[–] abysmalpoptart 1 points 1 year ago

Enjoy! If you get a chance to see them live, it's very worth it!

I want to listen to people who will still be around in a decade

Bands stay around when they have support. If you want bands to last, listen to them and see them play.

Lorna Shore, August Burns Red, Bad Omens, Bury Tomorrow, In Flames

Judging by the image, their concern is more that a lot of the bands they currently listen to are simply of an age that they've retired or died. It's not a lack of fans that stopped Black Sabbath from playing, it's that the members are well in to their 70s

[–] original2 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

In flames is good thank you

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Well if you like Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy and now In Flames just go down the melodeath rabbit hole:

  • Dark Tranquillity
  • At The Gates
  • Soilwork
  • The Halo Effect
  • Majesties

And then you've got the whole deathcore scene which has been massively influenced by melodeath.

It's tricky because there is so much classic thrash on here, but that genre died and was revived and then died again. If you get a taste for death metal or some of the other more contemporary extreme subgenres it'll be easier to follow current bands and see them in the future.

Here are a few modern recommendations you might like:

  • Unto Others (fka "Idle Hands" ) - Mana
  • Tribulation - Down Below
  • Blood Incantation - Hidden History of the Human Race
  • Worm - Bluenothing
  • Bell Witch - Mirror Reaper
  • Obsequiae - The Palms of Sorrowed Kings
  • Havukruunu - Uinuos Syömein Sota

Nervosa and Enforced if you’re looking for some newer thrash metal.

I don't have any recommendations because you listen to very different music to me, but why does the band being around in a decade matter?

[–] original2 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I like live music and I'm 17. I wanna see shows in a decade

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Just go to shows. Stop worrying about if they're perfect or if they'll be around forever. Just go and get out of your comfort zone sometimes. Nobody here can tell you who will be around in a decade. None of that really matters though if you stop worrying and just go and support musicians you enjoy as directly as you can.

Three bands from the UK, Florence Black, Margarita Witch Cult & Tailgunner 🤘

I know you said newer bands but you might also like some other older stuff like Pantera, Biohazard, Sepultura, Testament, Corrosion of Conformity, Type O Negative, Overkill, etc.

Angelus Apatrida

[–] CaucasianBryan 1 points 1 year ago

Sabaton has been around for awhile. They're a Swedish metal band that sings about history, battles, and the heroes that took place in those battles.

I'm a simple metal head: I see Iron Maiden, I see Megadeth, I upvote.

Edit: almost forgot — I see Arch Enemy, I upvote.
