Day 1 (self.stopsmoking)

I smoked for about 30 years and almost beat the addiction in 2021 via vaping but due to lobbyists making vapes pretty much unaffordable in my country I quickly went back to tobacco. I am determined to make it this time. I refuse to let this stuff control my body and mind any longer.

I smoked like it was an Olympic sport for 17 years and I loved every minute of it. I was never going to quit.

Then I found vaping, which I switched to overnight and 7 years later I still haven’t had a single cigarette, AND I now run 5kms flat out every day with a 40sec recovery time. I’m a fit, strong, healthy, vaper with an endurance that matches runners 10 years my junior. As a smoker I couldn’t walk to the letterbox without needing a rest.

And they want to ban vaping and keep cigarettes legal.

The thing is, around here they went for the liquids instead of the devices themselves. I used to be able to buy litres of the stuff for about a sixth of the price of tobacco. Now they taxed it so high it is no longer feasable to vape, at least at sub ohm. Tobacco prices went up hardly at all, go figure.

Ive got much the same story as you. I vaped for a couple of years but regulation in my country made me go back to cigarettes. Bad decision. Now I'm trying to just stop, using nicotine replacement products like gum and an inhaler. It still sucks, but I really don't want to waste money on cigarettes anymore.
