Xbox news, reviews of games, rumors, discussions of games. As for what I don't want to see....too much wish fulfillment and nostalgia bait? Repeated posts of "remember this" or "I wish they would release a new game for x". That has its place certainly, but I don't want this community to be primarily that.

I agree with the nostalgia bait 100%. We'll take it all account. Thank you for the suggestions!
+1
Put it rather succinctly. I hope this community grows.
I don't have an Xbox, but I am an Xbox Cloud Gaming subscriber and really love it.
Hopefully there will be some posts about CG.
How is cloud gaming where you are located? It's really hit or miss for me when I'm outside of the house. Even on a 5G network.
It's great on my iPad inside my house with wifi.
Also good most of the time on LTE/5G when I'm hotspotted, but the graphics quality drops every few minutes. Not unplayable on slower games (Cities Skylines, etc.) but definitely not good enough for all games.
My problem with that is I'd rather just play on my TV when I'm at home. I've been out so many times and wished I could play! I'll have to try it out on the wifi next time I'm at a hotel or something.
How can we contain console war garbage? That would be my biggest suggestion. Right now Reddit PS5/XboxSeriesX subs are basically millions of people pretending they are totally above and too mature to participate in console war nonsense, yet the only posts that gain any traction in a meaningful way are Xbox Vs. Sony posts. Maybe find a balance where major ongoing topics are contained to a weekly thread. So there is a weekly game performance thread, weekly Microsoft/Activision merger thread. Something like that. Otherwise this is just going to be Reddit again in short order.
Lemmy PS5 mod here. Console warring is not allowed over on lemmy.ml/c/ps5. I've had a stray comment or 2 about starfield vs final fantasy, but the community voted it down so I didn't intervene. If it gets bad I will not hesitate to take action. We are all gamers, and we should all be celebrating gaming. Personally I play on PS5, Switch, and PC/steam deck.
As for the merger news, articles are allowed to be posted on my community as long as they are playstation related. I think making a discussion thread dedicated to the mergers will have the opposite effect and will cause more issues. As @[email protected] has mentioned below, the Xbox, Nintendo, and PS5 mods are all friendly and are working to foster great console gaming communities across Lemmy.
Love to see it! Thanks for the update brother. Much appreciated. I think you all are doing a pretty damn good job thus far.
Thanks! I'm trying. We may not catch everything, so if you see content that you don't like or that is violating the community rules, use that report button to bring it to our attention. As of yet, I've had zero reports but I'm sure as we grow there will be issues that arise.
If there is actually a large influx of people I expect you all will become real busy real quick, haha.
😂 hopefully only the nice people come. We don't need everyone from reddit over here.
Also, I personally think that most people considering Lemmy from the reddit ordeal are likely already over here to some degree. We might not see many more users, but possibly more activity as reddit won't be an outlet for many anymore. I could be wrong though, only 3 more days until we find out.
I agree 100% with the console war crap. I'm in contact with the PS5 mods (and getting in contact with the Nintendo mods) to make sure we can all work together to at least keep the blatant console flaming and baiting off our forums.
Personally I would like to see this become what the xboxseriesx subreddit is right now.
That sub has great moderation and meaningful discussion in most comment sections.
That is where I came from as well. Hopefully we can get to that level. Our user levels are slowly building up, we just need more people to interact and post now.
I don’t interact much with Reddit but plan to do a lot here to help it grow :).
Someone needs to leave that first comment on posts to spark a conversation.
Exactly! And hopefully as more people see interactions they'll interact more themselves.
Well, I do NOT have a Xbox. I am mainly interested in Xbox because it's one of the main gaming companies, and because they have Bethesda exclusive games. I plan to get one if Starfield doesn't come over to PS5, so want to have general idea of ecosystem and how things are going.
So, as long as I am concerned, I would love to see news and discussions related to Xbox. There doesn't need to be every single of piece of news ever, but I would like to see at least most major news.
That's a great attitude! I've been meaning to reach out to you for some cross community love. How are things going in the Nintendo community?
Things are going great. People here at lemmy are pretty cool, so it's fun to run the community.
It's also nice to see this community growing and getting active, you are most welcome to reach me anytime you want.
The people on Lemmy are so nice compared to some of the larger forums I've been on, I hope it continues that way as it grows.
How long have you and your community been active on Lemmy?
Yeah, that's what I like about it. People here are much nicer. Let's hope it stays that way.
As for me, I just started after the reddit fiasco. I had another account on lemmy.ml a long time ago, to test things, but never really used it.
I joined lemmy.world when join-lemmy/instance showed it had 3 users/month. Wanted to join a smaller instance to spread the federation of lemmy, and not put all load on main instance (Heh, the irony!). Joined (you had to apply for joining back then), and created the community as soon as my account was approved.
Funny thing is, the start of the community was pretty much same as the Xbox community. I only made it because search didn't result any Nintendo community, and by the time I realised about the sync issues and global search, it was already more active than the one on lemmy.ml, so just continued with it.
Sexy John Oliver content! Jk, that's what Reddit's for, nowadays.
Real user discussion about real xbox news, like other comments here have stated :)
I'll see if we can get some images of him playing Xbox for you ;) lol.
Hey! I'm the mod over on [email protected] just wanted to pop over and say hi!
Hello! How are you guys doing over there? Building a great community I hope!
Doing my best! We were affected with a bug that made us not show up in search for a few days but that's been fixed with the rollout of BE 0.18!
I've been keeping in touch with the mod over on Nintendo in a matrix chat. Feel free to reach out anytime. I think we should all work together to make console gaming on Lemmy a vibrant place!
I wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment. I also love your name. Absolutely hilarious!
Just my theory of the universe 😂, glad you like it
What games people like, what games are coming out, including the game pass. Maybe gameplay of unreleased content only.
Discussion, not news spam, game reviews, organic engagement with like minded individuals. Significant news is fine, but I don't want someone to be posting news articles every 30 seconds from the bot they wrote. I want real engagement in the community about the subject matter.
I agree on the not spamming part, we don't need 5 of the same article. I believe though that as long as the news is Xbox related it in itself can spawn good discussion.
I wouldn’t mind memes but none of that PS5 v XB bullshit. Discussions on hidden gems on Game Pass, upcoming games, funny moments and screen grabs and videos etc. Maybe when the community has grown having ‘meme Monday’ or certain days for certain content in general.
Flame wars of any type won't be tolerated. We're all gamers! I like the idea of certain days for some things though. I'll definitely keep that in mind.
Oh yeah, I like themed days. Keeps posters on task and I believe it drives engagement.
Video games. What really soured me on the subreddit was the constant updates/posts about whatever lawsuit Sony and MS are in right now. It's stupid, only promotes console war type bullshit, and frankly, I don't care.
Yeah for sure. Contain those posts to a single weekly thread. We dont' need minute by minute updates on the merger. Just have a weekly megathread or something when there is popular ongoing news.
Good: discussion about games/tech, breaking news, reviews/opinions from community members, hype for upcoming games, links to official announcements
Bad: memes, tech/customer support, photos of screens, "does gold conversion still work?"
Thank you for your input! :)
Personally I would like to see this become what the xboxseriesx subreddit is right now.
That sub has great moderation and meaningful discussion in most comment sections.
Agreed.
