Hi all, I need to replace a power supply in an old pc. I think it's 650-700w, but could it be too much for a GTX960+AMD FX8320?

Is there a tool to help me evaluate the proper power range needed?

Pcpartpicker will help you with this issue.

+1 for PCPartPicker. I use this for every new build and upgrade, no exceptions. I've used it for over a decade and it hasn't failed me once.

Theres really no risk with going too big on a power supply, as the rating is the max draw, not the constant output. A 1200w power supply will only provide 650w, if thats all thats being called for.

Power supplies are also more efficient when not near their max load, so a 1200w only doing 650 is going to be better off than a 700 doing 650.
