We have to see how much they will botch the performance further with this one!
Its unfortunate SV has gone that way. I was so excited for it, and I actually still am now as the DLC adds some many Pokemons I like

Really disappointed in the 1st DLC being pushed from summer to "fall 2023". I'm guessing the 2nd DLC won't actually be "winter 2023" either.
Its probably for the best, knowing the latest rushes/crunches
I really hope so! If the DLCs are delayed and still suck performance wise that would e a huge embarrassment for GF. Some part of me still thinks this will happen though…
I wonder if Yamask is gonna be part of the Teal Mask DLC.
Still, these games are so poor compared to other Switch releases.
Performance-wise they're a mess, but I also think these games introduced some of the best ideas in Pokemon in many generations, and they've been my favourites by far since Generation VI. There are lots of super fun easter eggs, character designs are great, terastalising is the best and most complex gimmick since mega evolutions, and I actually thought the story was interesting this time around. I think they got too much hate for what they are, which in my opinion is the best Pokemon games since Gen V.
Should Game Freak be spending more money on larger development teams or more talented programmers, to ensure games run smoothly and graphics and animations are better? Absolutely. But are the games awful? I really don't think so. I thought they were super fun and I enjoyed them a lot.
I agree! Looking past the performance issues, I had a lot of fun with SV.
For the first time in years Pokemon genuinely felt like going on an adventure with awesome monsters, discovering stuff about this weird world and it’s wacky characters, instead of a linear demo with very little spirit. I’ve never cared much about a game’s performance or graphics, so I didn’t mind that much, but I feel like this game has more soul than X/Y, Su/Mo and Sw/Sh and that is a step in the right direction for me.
For single player gameplay, I found terrastelizing very boring. It just makes one type stronger. Of the few NPCs that use it, they almost all waste it in extremely dull ways.
Nothing has yet to come close to megas, which at least we're really fun to find the various forms of and breathed a breath of fresh air into a few species.
I wonder if the issue was less about talent and more the time frame and resources for such a large undertaking. There was a lot going on in this game, and don't get me wrong, I loved it! But, also, I cannot imagine the size of an undertaking like that, nor can I imagine trying to complete it on a certain schedule.
Tgere was a leak of all the added Pokemon on 4chan almost the day when it first got announced
I don't venture on 4chan and try avoid leaks.
I'm getting the feeling that they realized that salvaging the performance would require a complete redesign of the game, and just gave up.
The performance patch is not coming. They're just going to push out these dlcs and focus on the upcoming games.
Or maybe just the next console, really. The Switch isn’t that powerful, and GameFreak aren’t that competent.
Admitadly, the footage they showed looks far smoother than the games do. It could just be then cherry picking footage, and I'm expecting nothing from GF, but we'll have to see.
We'll see, but I don't think there's any indication at all that the footage is representative of the game.
Despite all the performance issues and barren open world, the game is still pretty fun. If the DLC is as good as Crown Tundra was in Sw/Sh then I'll end up getting it but I don't do pre-orders.
I was quite annoyed because it was so fun, but the performance and style was just so bad.
I was having a decent time, but thinking how good it couldve been... Yeah that annoys me.
Honestly the first time I'm gonna skip a Pokémon (main) game or it's DLC. Been a fan since I was a young kid playing Emerald and S/V was a hot mess, even the late game didn't grasp me like it did before (shiny hunting, making a competitive team etc.). I hope we will see redemption in the future as I haven't given up hope yet. :)
I actually wasn't expecting any footage of this today, that was a surprise. If anyone remembers that 4chan leak from a little while back, how is its credibility looking now?
Seeing this immediately after playing ToTK is just...depressing.
There are people doing so much with Pokemon style games. I really want GameFreak to step up their game.
Even Pokémon rom hacks are getting better and more advanced by the year where some games surpass mainline Pokémon games i.m.h.o.
Well, when the game keeps making them bajillion dollars, they don't have any motivation to improve it.
Just hope they get some new blood, who have passion to make the best Pokemon game, and the higher ups let them make it.
Definitely won't be buying these after the total disaster the base game was. hopefully the next game is a lot more polished. Absolutely no more pre-orders from me though.
The performance of the base game was a hot mess. But I did personally still have fun. It's certainly a pretty flawed game even looking past the performance issues. There's almost no level scaling, despite it being an open world game where level matters massively. And it once again makes it far too easy to be overleveled even if you follow the absolute mess of the "leveled order" (ie, ordering content from lowest to highest level). But that said, the story and exploration was fun. Paradox pokemon were great.
I'm cautiously excited for these DLCs. The content that Sword and Shield's pass brought were the best in the game, so hopefully that standard continues here. I also really, really enjoyed SV other than the performance issues...which I must have been lucky with because beyond some framerate issues, I didn't experience anything game breaking.
Still not preordering them, but I'll be happy to give them a fair shake with impressions after they release!
