Kinda shows the problem. They even said they weren't gonna sponsor it, but they still let us know who wanted to!
Linus Tech Tips
~~⚠️ De-clickbait-ify the youtube titles or your post will be removed!~~
~~Floatplane titles are perfectly fine.~~
~~LTT/LMG community. Brought to you by ******... Actually, no, not this time. This time it's brought to you by Lemmy, the open communities and free and open source software!~~
~~If you post videos from Youtube/LTT, please please un-clickbait the titles. (You can use the title from https://nitter.net/LTTtranslator/ but it doesn't seem to have been updated in quite some while...)~~
Yeah that added the cherry to an already horribly cringe worth "apology" video.
You know what that sounded to me? “See, we’re in this mess but people still want to pay us!”
That was a joke. Linus not really liking dbrand but not being able to turn down the sponsorship money is basically an LTT meme at this point. Yvonne was really poking fun at Linus since they basically use every sponsorship opportunity to mess with him.
I remember linus said he will monetize his death (or funeral?) if he can during a wan show. But I cannot find the footage.
He said if something catastrophic happened on camera to keep the cameras rolling and monetize it because its great content
along those lines, i really struggle to understand dbrands marketing tactics
Watching the video reminded me of the ukulele apology video.
What's with all the terrible jokes throughout the entire thing? That wasn't necessary at all
Especially after the Madison tweets, and Linus once again comes in with deflections and excuses excuses excuses.
Did Linus respond to those?
I don't think he'll be allowed to now.
We reached out to Sebastian about these latest accusations, and he responded via email, saying:
I was in a state of shock reading through these allegations, plain and simple. They aren’t consistent with my recollections. They aren’t consistent with our internal processes. They aren’t consistent with our company values.
We pride ourselves on maintaining a safe and inclusive environment. In addition to our existing report systems (both anonymous and otherwise) we’ve proactively reached out internally today to encourage members of our team to report any workplace bullying or harassment they might be experiencing so we can take quick and decisive action.
Our HR team will be conducting a more thorough assessment of the allegations, and when we are ready, we will release a more complete statement. For now I would ask that we allow our team the time they need be as thorough as possible.

No way he wrote that himself
After the response to his forum post the other day? Not a chance. Probably Yvonne or someone else in HR wrote it.
The verge article mentioned Linus and Tony's response.
Wasn't Linus's response to The Verge just the same thing they posted on Floatplane? Copying and pasting answers just like all great executives. u/spez for example
Sorry, I worded that poorly.
I was referring to Linus segment of the apology video.
They won't respond to this impulsively like with GNs video, they will have to thread very carefully around this issue.

Well, about time we speak about how they all handled Dennis in his first years. I am surprised he's still there.
Oh yeah! I almost forgot about that!
Reading the Madison stuff before watching the video makes the jokes feel out of touch even if seems like they didn’t know about it before publishing the video
Yeah, I am kind of sorry for Luke. He made an actually good 69 joke and now it feels SO WRONG to do it. I doubt he'd have made it if he knew what was about to come.
Lord they could not be more unprofessional
Emotional forum post written by a dickhead making the most petty arguments imaginable and crying about the fact they're also just human.
Vs
Corporate executives reading a script with bad jokes, telling viewers to buy merch and crying about the fact they're also just human.
That's tough
The reason why it is so hard for this group of self-proclaimed competent individuals to just swallow their pride & come out with an actual legitimate apology is because they are, at the end of the day, a boys club. I hope Terren cleans the place up big time.
Between all the jokes about sponsors and the ltt store I'm actually pretty disgusted. The gravity of the situation, aside from the sexual harassment alligations, doesn't warrent the jokes.
The video was filmed and published before the tweets from Madison. They are solely refering the Gamers Nexus video.
Filmed yes. Published no.
You are correct. I checked when it was fresh with the "uploaded x hours ago" and tweeted at xx:xx and it seemed the video was first. But those numbers are often rounded or are at different timezones.
When you look at UTC timestamps the tweet was 06:09 while the video was at 10:33.
I wonder who signed off on this vid release?
The timing was really, really bad. It misses people's concerns by now and goes against the general vibe of the accusations.
