!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

Big one is upvotes I guess? Or not... It correlates only sometimes. The small one I have absolutely no idea.

Edit: Thanks everyone for answering! The big one is upvote rating and the second one is time. Regarding no letters: My guess is - it doesn't show "m" or "h" near the time because my system is not in english, and though most of the lemmy is in english, for some reason the time on a post renders only "sometimes" in my system language or doesn't render at all.

The big number is the "karma" value. Upvotes minus downvotes. I'm not sure why the small number doesn't have a letter next to it. For me, it's how long it's been since the comment or post.

Small one shows time for me, with m or d next to the number

The big one are the upvotes, yes. I saw some posts somewhere why they don't always align but currently can't find one to link to. The small one is time.

Right after posting it also show only "1" for me, just like in your picture. And the small dot right next to it.

Same

Seems to be a time since the past was published.

For me, the big number is the upcote "score" and the small number is the time since it was posted. But the time should have an m or d or h, I think, for minutes, days, hours, etc.

On my end in the app I do see a letter indicating all the time unit from minutes and up.

the last sentence was worded as if its a feature suggestion but its how it is. no idea why OP isnt seeing it.

On my screen it shows "23m" where the smaller number is, I think it's time since posted or last edited. I'm also using Jerboa, v0.0.34

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Score and age. Mine shows the second number like "23m" for 23 minutes, not sure if there's a buried setting or something for showing the unit

Big number: net upvotes = upvotes - downvotes

Little number: time since the post or comment was created. Some comments have another time number in parentheses, which tells you when the comment was last edited.

Upvote and downvote tallies seem to vary depending on which instance you're using and how well things are syncing.

Big one is upvotes (it increased when you upvotes)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Upvotes and time, 1 being one minute, if you find that post again I'd assume it's about 8 hours later also, assuming that wasn't an older pic.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I see the score of this post is 3 and it was posted an hour ago.

Score is the number of upvotes with the number of downvotes subtracted from it.

It correlating only sometimes might be either the app or your instance falling out of sync, because it doesn't keep up with the live vote count.
