Well at the moment it's kind of much.. with Lemmy, work, family, hobbies... But as soon as Lemmy gets more stable, and the moderator teams are in place, it will be more quiet
You have a full plate! I think it's ts easy for us users to picture admins as fully working on the big picture and nothing else, but you're somehow juggling it all in with a very full daily life! I for one (and many others) really appreciate your herculean effort. I hope getting time for yourself as well.
Well this is a hobby. One of many hobbies I have. But at the moment the one taking up most time. But that's why I'm looking for a team. Some to help me admin my servers, some to moderate. The bigger the team, the less work for each, and the more coverage of timezones etc.
But that's a work in progress.
Thanks and congrations! Btw is there a page where we can (financially) contribute in some way?
I'm between jobs right now, but I can spare $2 a month. I love what you are creating and I want to help, even if in only a small way.
Seeing this instance and platform grow and flourish has been more rewarding than the last several years on reddit.
Thank you! Much appreciated!
Delightfully straightforward update, thank you. I wonder if Hetzner would be willing to offer a discounted rate if they knew what everyone here is trying to do.
That's a good thought, I will check with them.
This simple blog post may some day go down in history.
That's a cool thought lol
Everything about this is cool! It feels like an "internet" reboot.
Thanks for keeping everyone updated while doing everything you're doing in your home life too. And again thanks for making lemmy.world happen.
Who on earth downvoted an update by Ruud though!?
Probably someone had their phone upside down
Dang Australians.

I bet it was the guy who tried signing up all those bots.
Congratulations on your achievements!
First Lemmy instance for me! I'm super interested in what's going on over here, it's fascinating watching something like this grow. I hope some of the guys who worked on the mod tools on Reddit jump over here to help develop tools here.
Thanks for doing this @ruud
It's awesome to see a posts like this that's so open about what going on behind the scenes. I'm new to this fediverse stuff. It's taking a while to learn about it all, but I really like the open source nature of it all, and not being reliant on a single corporate entity. I really want to see Lemmy, and this instance, as well as other fediverse projects succeed and grow. I happily donated. Keep up the good work!
Will you be posting every time there's a new blog post? I'm interested to keep reading these!
Yes I think so. You could also follow @[email protected] if you have mastodon, calckey, Akkoma or any such fediverse account.
Hopefully one day in Lemmy too! Thanks for making this space for all of us!
This is great, I am really enjoying this community.
I donated! Also let me know if you want mod help.
Thank you for your work
Nice! Perhaps thats a good idea.. A writefreely blog for such updates!
Of course.. it federates! You can follow my blog account from mastodon or whichever, via @[email protected]
Great recap, thanks!
Well done. Thanks, hero.
This was very cool to take a peak into. I have been considering setting up my own server but now I'm pretty sure my old rig couldn't handle a rig like this.
I think a big part of making large federated servers going is going to be donations. Is there any way we can donate? Thank you for all the hard work!
His patreon is listed in another comment.
Do you have some technical tips for other not so experienced admins? (I just started a Lemmy instance for my country)
Well the first would be to join the Lemmy admin matrix channel, you can get help there: https://matrix.to/#/!OwmdVYiZSXrXbtCNLw:matrix.org?via=matrix.org&via=mozilla.org&via=tchncs.de
Even tho I'm not on your instance I have to thank you for allowing the fediverse to grow.
thanks for your efforts
I'm happy to be here! While sometimes it's definitely noticible that Lemmy is still in its early days, but that in itself makes me excited for the road ahead. Thanks Ruud!
That was a nice read, thanks for all your work @[email protected] ! I hope that you can get a good rest soon after things settle down a bit
Cool, go lemmy.world
