How do I block an entire instance?

I'm getting really really sick of blocking dozens of communities from lemmynsfw every single day. It never ends ffs.

If I want porn, I'll go looking for porn. It shouldn't be every third post in my feed.

Honestly, how is anyone supposed to join Lemmy if they all just get flodded with mountains of porn??? I can't imagine anyone that's not already invested in being here wanting to join. (unless their looking for a pornhub alt I guess...)

Not everything NSFW is porn and I'm not looking to remove non-porn so permanently hiding everything tagged NSFW isn't a solution.

Connect for android let's you block by instance. I use it all the time, like for other language instances

~~The only extremely minor catch with it is that it blocks comments from those instances as well. So I blocked the German instance (because I don't speak German), and now their comments are hidden as well. But they often comment the relevant stuff in English, so I have to click a button to see the comment. Really a first world problem :D~~

In Connect's Settings, tap on "Block settings" and under your blocked instances list, there's a toggle to turn off "Block instances includes comments."

Problem solved! Thanks

Yeah. Not to mention I'm completely fed up with the amount of furry bullshit. Every time I block the new niche furry community another one pops up. Be into whatever you want but honestly there needs to be some moderation. You don't need this many separate furry porn subs. It's insane.

Do I use lemmy wrong? I browse my local instance, and I subscribe to communities from other instances, and when I browse I do local or subscribed. I never see furry shit. Is this coming from browsing "all"?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

That's mostly where I see this kind of stuff, on "all" which is great for discovering new communities and getting out of the "echo chamber".

I think this and blocking all users from a specific server are the top feature requests. Maybe followed closely by account migration.

I'd do this with the Lemmygrad tankies in a heartbeat.

So it's not currently possible?

I was afraid of that.... TBH I'm debating running a private instance just to deal with this. Seems excessive though. :/

Might be a good question to ask [email protected]

And I should probably ask how to mention a channel via jerboa lol

[email protected] (no other formatting, just the exclamation mark)

There's a nsfw toggle in the settings. I turned it off and I don't see anything like that.

I'm not looking for a PG experience, I just don't want someone's pussy in my face every 5 seconds.

Only with certain apps is this possible. It’s not popsicle by default currently.

Right now you can't, and the feature would need to be coded directly into Lemmy by the developers. It's bigger than an instance admin request thing.
