"Square Enix in overestimating their sales number shocker - More at 10".

Seriously, has a publisher ever been so consistently wrong about their own projections?

So they released exclusively for PS5 but stayed below their profit targets. So either Sony should have paid them more or they should've released to Xbox and PC as well, correct? Just put an end to exclusivity deals already.

Instead Xbox are sharpening their knives playing the same game. It's going to be so dumb when a lot of houses become two console households... I know some already are.

I barely have enough time to play video games to warrant the expense of the game. Now you want me to buy a whole other console? Get out of here with that nonsense, and they are basically just gated computers at this point anyway.

They kind of always have been.

That said, if you don't have enough time to play on one console, why buy two? Sure, you can't play every game, but if you don't have the time anyway, just pick games that are available for your platform, I'm sure there's plenty of selection for your limited time.

I would have bought it if it was on PC. I don't have a PS5 and I'm not interested in the game enough to buy a another system for it.

Exactly in the same boat. I would pick up this game in a second on PC, but with all the GamePass, free Epic, and Steam sale games I have there is zero need to ever get a PS5.

I have a PS5, but I know it'll come to PC, so it's a pass for me until then.

I wish squeenix would just simultaneously release and get over timed exclusivity

I haven't finished it yet, but I'm having a good time. Best mainline FF game in a very long time IMO. Since at least X, and possibly VII.

Also, I thought the game reviewed pretty well?

This might be a hot take, but I disliked XVI even more than I disliked XV. Largely because the game demo’d so well and then the final product just didn’t follow through. I don’t know if there’s ever been a game where I thought so many things were completely devoid of merit. So many of the problems stem from the fact that nothing in the game does anything.

Exploration? Not fun because the only reward is crafting items (which don’t do anything) and Gil (which doesn’t do anything).

Side quests? Not fun because the rewards are crafting items and Gil (which don’t do anything) and learning more about Larry Bob the chef and how he can’t carry a bowl of soup five inches to someone.

Crafting and weapons? Not fun because combat has absolutely no variation. All the upgrades are incredibly small upticks in numbers.

Even the story, which was so promising with its Game of Thrones inspired political start, had so many plot holes and important unanswered questions by the end, it’s just got you mashing your head against a wall through all the cutscenes.

The game’s redeeming feature is its boss battles, which are epic, but it’s so clear that’s where they poured all the budget, and I just kind of wish they spent less there so it could have been a better rounded final product.
