MODERATORS

Democratic strategist James Carville advised Democratic politicians to “do nothing” to oppose President Donald Trump – at least for now.

With full Republican control of the government, Democrats have limited options for opposing Trump’s agenda, which includes his billionaire benefactor Elon Musk going from one government department to another under the pretext of “cutting costs” in a way that is “violating the law right and left,” according to one former White House ethics lawyer.

On Monday, several large protests were held across the country to protest Trump and Musk. Later, on MSNBC’s The Beat, host Ari Melber asked Carville for his reaction to the demonstrations.

“It’s addressing a lot of concerns about the current agenda,” Melber said. “Even if they’re anti-Trump voters. They’re calling out a lot of things that they say exceed the president’s authority, or are dangerous, or are gutting… the federal government. What’s happening here?”

Carville expressed support for the demonstrations, but had a word of caution for Democratic politicians.

“This is happening all around the country,” he replied. “So the question is, how should Democratic politicians respond to this? And what I think they should do is what we call in rural America, play possum. Just let it go. Don’t get in the way of it. Or as we like to say, don’t just stand there, do nothing. Let this germinate… We don’t need to get in front of it. This freight train is moving. Let’s just get out of the way and then we’re gonna have time.”

Melber responded, “That makes sense.”

Dems: "We're on it! I got left bench, coach!"

Man, fuck this guy. The Republicans were in the minority during the Obama years and look at all the obstruction they still managed to get away with.

The Do Nothing Democrats bear an equal amount of blame for sustaining the Ratchet Effect that got us here in the first place.

Fuck you, Carville. Holy shit. It’s insane that he can say that with a straight face.

For those who dont know, James Carville isn't just an amateur Crypt Keeper impersonator.

He made his name with the Clinton's in the 90s taking credit for anything they could and saying it was due to neoliberalism.

There's very few people who bare more responsibility for the state of American politics than James Carville and the only reason he keeps getting on TV is billionaires who own TV stations really want him to be the only alternative to fascism.

Fuck Carville, he destroyed the Democratic party, and wants to discourage us from putting the pieces together so in four years he can say there's no time for a primary, we have to coalesce around a neoliberal

Your last paragraph really nails it

“Please don’t hold me accountable for the failed neoliberal strategy I’ve continued parroting for the past 15 years.” - James Carville, in spirit

Must be nice to be in such a comfortable and privileged position in life that you can advocate for the "lets do nothing" strategy.

~~Neville Chamberland~~ James Carville is fucking wrong on this. While protest may not change the course America is on right now it will at least continue to give a voice to those that feel voice-less. Action, even small action, can have a big impact if it is consistent. Sticking your head in the sand and hoping that the freight train wrecks is a shit strategy.

Edit: Fuck you, James!

Nobody cares what Republican and Fox News host James Carville thinks. Carville is an ass.

Well I think he’s right. Let the movement build. We don’t need a current politician to jump ahead of this and try to control it. It needs to run its course.

Carville does need to get out the way. Pelosi and Biden too. The current movement will produce its own leaders that will bubble up to the surface.
