admitting that one made a mistake? Unthinkable!
True, it's almost as bad as showing feelings as an adult
We better get out of here. The cops are on to us.
The number of times I've been told "you're allowed to have feelings, but maybe express those feelings in another place" is too damn high.
Mostly by my ex wife.
Glad she's your ex, then. You don't deserve that from someone who is supposed to love and support you.
Sir, I am sorry we can't sell you a shamrock shake......this is a Wendy's.
Sobs uncontrollably.
I know it wasn't anything like this, but for some reason this is one of the scenarios I imagined.
See, that's what I would classify as maybe an emotional response that doesnt match the situation normally.
If someone did do that, clearly they are going through shit a lot worse than shamrock shakes not being Wendy's things. And I probably still wouldn't tell them to find another place to cry.
From my experience, this would evoke an unusually extreme rage response.

At least it wasn't "your feelings are wrong"
If you keep crying after sex on the hunny moon you might want to rethink your relationship.
I have found the best way to deal with upset children is to confirm to them that "feelings are the hardest part of growing up"
it doesn't make anything better but it does help them feel more accepted
Why would you tell anyone, let alone a child, that in the first place?
IMO men who cry are stronger than others. It takes quite some strength to say "Fuck it, I'm crying now" in front of other people, especially in front of other men.
you can choose if you cry or not?
sometimes you can, sometimes you can't. there are ways you can deal with emotions other than crying, but sometimes you just can't really hold back from crying.
I don't feel like it's something you can choose. You may be able to resist it, but should you?
Well at least I can try to suppress my urge to cry, like I've been told over and over again in my childhood.
