"3,600 messages from Mason in November 2021"

30 days in November, so 120 messages A DAY. EVERY DAY.

I'm married and I don't talk to my wife that much.

"Your daughter's death is not service related"

How the hell does this even go on, and not have someone arrested? That BTW is rhetorical

~~In-service death tends to be an almost automatic grant of service connected death benefits, likely only burial in this case. DoD failed this person. That doesn’t mean that the VA will.~~

Edit: I managed to read the article and still get the country wrong.

"Larkhill camp in Wiltshire", this is in the UK so DoD and VA don't apply, but you can be forgiven for thinking that given similar ass-hattery in the US.

[–] hibsen 8 points 1 week ago

Oh geez. I’m so used to reading sexual trauma records from the DoD that I just assume immediately. Sorry about that, my bad entirely.

McCready said her daughter did not want to inform anyone in the army about Mason’s behaviour as she did not want to be known as “the female troublemaker”.

Her fear was legitimate, and I understand why she would be reticent to report it. On the other hand, what was the Army supposed to do? They should certainly be fostering an environment where people are not afraid to report, but in this one particular instance, perhaps informing on the culprit could have led to a better outcome.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 week ago

You ask what the army should do. You answer yourself: foster an environment where this behavior is rooted out. Since she didn't feel safe to report, they clearly failed at that duty.

What is your confusion?

Anyone in the US should know that if you feel your military chain of command cannot help you, you can contact your members of congress and they will act on your behalf.

Please do not become a stylistic

yeah... I have had a coupel glasses of wine

[–] EmpathicVagrant 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

A glass being a cork each, right? The bottle is my treasure if I have wine, just sip on it for the night.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

oh yeah, no bottle should be wasted, so might as well enjoy the whole thing!

[–] EmpathicVagrant 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It goes bad once it’s been opened, anyway. Max 3 days. I’m old. And faded.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

if I don't drink it the next day... imo its done. My wife will use it for cooking sometimes

I'm pretty sure this is a stupid question and I missed something but how did she die? Is this being treated as a murder investigation, suicide?

[–] meco03211 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This article didn't say, but the first few google results say suicide.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Cool, thanks, that makes sense.

What a weird response.
