Can the proton client sync both files and photos to PC?
No
https://ente.io/ may be what you're looking for photo storage
for emails go tuta instead of proton (cheaper and unlike proton, they don't support neoFascism)
I don't know that you can sync files from Android outside of photos.
You can definitely sync any files from your computer, but they won't go into the "photos" section of Proton Drive, even if they are photos, which is really annoying. The whole photo backup thing is very rudementary and thrown together, and hasn't seen any updates that I can tell since it was implemented.
I see, that's what I was suspecting. I wonder if someone has a solution to what I want to achive. Is it even possible to export the photos in one go? (not manually downloading them I mean)
With a quick look, it seems the only way is to click every single month, for as long as you've been uploading, then hit the download button. There doesn't appear to be an "export photos" button or anything.
Thanks for the info, seems that even google is better in that regard then, too bad
Google is better at almost everything. They've been around way longer, have infinite money, and don't need to worry about encryption.
Photos are just files.
Proton Drive treats standard files and photo backups differently.
Yeah, google photo does that too
But PDrive doesn't treat them as such. It's kind of annoying.
Ah gotcha, that's frustrating.
That’s not clarifying things for me I’m afraid. Are you saying that the photo upload from on phones will end up on the drive, and since they are files they will be downloaded to my PC? My understanding is that photos are not treated the same way as files in Proton.
Yeah I didn't realize they pulled shenanigans like that.
