I across this interesting page on Wikipedia called "Characters With Narcissistic Personality Disorder" and I was very surprised by the characters that will included. I never thought of Patrick Bateman or Bender as having NPD before. There are some obvious ones like the Wicked Witch from Snow White and Gaston from Beauty And The Beast but are there any others.

Bender? Really? I thought that one would have been more obvious

More like, Zapp Brannigan for NPD.

It can be both

Yeah, Patrick Bateman seems pretty plainly obvious to me also

The problem with analyzing Patrick Bateman is that it's like analyzing Jason Voorhees or Mike Myers. Bateman doesn't really have a character outside of just being a sadist.

Why? I've watched a lot of Futurama and he's outgoing and self centered but not in a narcissistic way. He just doesn't care about social norms or what others think. He doesn't have a high self image or need to be seen by others.

He's always bragging about how he's the greatest. Did you forget the episode where he built a giant statue shouting "Remember me!" ?

How can you watch Futurama for any length of time and not think he's incredibly self centered and narcissistic lol

Anyway...to the OP...a character that vibes towards that for my is Shawn from Psych. Not to the degree of having NPD, but there is definitely a lot of narcissism there.

to cite one example, just last night i happened to watch the episode "I Second That Emotion". in this, bender is so upset that others are paying attention to nibbler instead of him at nibbler's birthday party that he makes a big cake with his own name in huge letters, and when nibbler eats it before everyone else can see it and recognize how great bender is, he flushes nibbler down the toilet.

Raphael from Baldur's Gate 3.

Rick Sanchez defined the subset of the multiverse where he is the smartest being in the universe as the β€œCentral Finite Curve.”

That’s pretty narcissistic.

I wouldn't really characterise rick as narcissistic, he is a nihilistic arsehole.

. Captain Hero from Drawn Together, He's hyper sensitive to criticism, obsessed with self-image and how he's seen by others and preoccupied with fantasies of wealth and recognition. Wikipedia says he supposed to be "sociopathic" but to me he's fits the bill for NPD more than anything else.
